Paper Rex’s Monyet Moves to Rex Regum Qeon for VCT Pacific Stage 2

On May 20, 2024, Paper Rex announced that reserve player Cahya “Monyet” Nugraha would be exploring offers from other teams to return to active competition in Valorant Esports. Paper Rex (PRX) has granted Monyet, a key player in their early success during the VCT 2024 season, the opportunity to rejoin the competitive scene. Shortly after this announcement, it was revealed that Monyet would be boosting the Rex Regum Qeon (RRQ) roster for the final VCT Pacific tournament of the season.

Paper Rex’s VCT Pacific Stage 1 Performance Paper Rex triumphed in the VCT Pacific Stage 1 grand finals, winning a thrilling 3-2 series against South Korean giants Gen.G Esports. This victory was particularly significant as PRX avenged their previous defeat by Gen.G in the VCT Pacific Kickoff tournament. The clash showcased incredible talent from both Valorant pro-squads, with the fate of the championship hanging in the balance until the very last moment.

The return of Wang “Jinggg” Jie to the active roster, replacing Monyet, was a critical factor in PRX's success. Jinggg’s presence provided the spark needed for PRX to reclaim their position as the kings of the Pacific. Following the switch, PRX's well-coordinated offensive surges and defensive setups completely changed the game's dynamics, securing a decisive 13-8 victory over Split and the coveted VCT Pacific Split 1 championship title.

Monyet’s Role and Performance

On March 29, 2024, after Valorant Masters Madrid, Jinggg rejoined the team, moving Monyet to PRX's inactive roster. Although he did not participate in any VCT Pacific Stage 1 matches, Monyet continued to boost the team by co-streaming PRX’s games. His streams garnered strong regional support for both PRX and the VCT Pacific.

Despite his role as a reserve player, Monyet expressed a strong desire to return to Valorant pro-gaming. PRX's Chief Gaming Officer, Harley “dns” Ovrall, acknowledged Monyet’s competitive spirit and dedication, stating:

“Cahya is an incredibly talented player and a fierce competitor. As a reserve player, he has always been sharp and ready to fill in if any emergencies arose. We consider ourselves extremely fortunate to have a player like him on our reserve roster. However, Cahya has also expressed his deep desire to actively compete again, and PRX wants to allow him to explore opportunities.”

Shortly after PRX's announcement, Indonesian esports organization Rex Regum Qeon revealed that Monyet had signed with their Valorant team for VCT Pacific Stage 2. The RRQ roster has been enthusiastic about Monyet's return to active play, recognizing his status as one of the most coveted players in Valorant’s Pacific region.
