Valorant Iso Tips and Tricks: How to Best Play Iso
Valorant welcomed Iso in Episode Seven, Act Three via Patch 7.09, shaking up the duelist meta. Iso brings unique abilities to the table that, if used correctly, can boost your gameplay. Here are a few essential tips and tricks to help you master Iso in Valorant.
Understanding Iso’s Abilities
Iso is a contract killer with a distinctive skill set. Let’s break down his abilities and how to use them to boost your performance.
Double Tap: Test Your Aim
Iso’s signature ability, Double Tap, involves a focus timer during which you can kill an enemy to generate an energy orb. Destroying the orb gives you a shield that absorbs incoming damage.
This shield can nullify damage, like a Raze’s Showstopper or an Operator shot, but it can only take one hit, so it can be broken by a single bullet. Activate Double Tap right before expecting a duel. First, focus on defeating the enemy, then destroy the orb when it's safe or when you're hiding. This ability doesn’t provide a quick escape like Reyna’s Dismiss, but it offers a high-absorbing shield that can be a game-changer if used carefully. |
Contingency: Situational Yet Strategic
Iso's bullet-bending wall, Contingency, is prismatic and angled toward you on both sides. It blocks bullets, but as a vision blocker, it is too thin for most chokepoints. However, it’s effective on Valorant maps with tight spaces like Ascent, Bind, Split, and Haven.
Use Contingency to block specific angles and focus on others. For example, when attacking Ascent’s B Site, send the wall towards Mid Market and engage enemies near the shed or Defender Spawn. On defense, use it to block entrance angles and take fights strategically.
Undercut: Iso’s Best Ability
Undercut is a wall-penetrating molecular bolt that applies the Vulnerable effect to enemies, making them take double damage from bullets and abilities. Combining this ability with powerful abilities such as Sova's Hunter's Fury, Brimstone's Orbital Strike, or Raze's Paint Shells ensures guaranteed kills, making it crucial for team play.
Undercut is easy to deploy, covers long paths, and is perfect for narrow lanes. Don’t miss the opportunity to use this ability to boost your team’s effectiveness in fights.
Kill Contract: More Than Just Kills
Iso’s ultimate, Kill Contract, pulls the first enemy hit into an interdimensional arena for a one-on-one fight.
The enemy is suppressed during this time, meaning their abilities are also suppressed. Use this ultimate to counter sentinel setups, delay Spike plants or defuses, and disrupt enemy strategies. Kill Contract can buy time for your team, delay enemy actions, and create opportunities for strategic plays. If Iso dies during his ultimate, teammates can camp at the enemy’s resurrection point for an easy kill. |
General Tips for Playing Iso
- Be Patient with Utilities: Don’t use Iso’s utilities too quickly. Assess the situation and use your abilities strategically to maximize their impact.
- Team Coordination: Iso’s abilities, especially Undercut and Kill Contract, are highly effective when used in coordination with your team. Communicate and plan your moves to boost overall team performance.
- Practice Precision: Iso’s Double Tap requires precision and quick reflexes. Practice your aim to make the most of this ability.
Iso is a one-of-a-kind Agent on Valorant’s duelist roster with his unique abilities. By mastering his skills and using them strategically, you can significantly boost your gameplay and support your team in various scenarios.
