Fnatic Ends Sentinels’ Run at VALORANT Masters Toronto
Fnatic delivered a crushing blow to Sentinels at VALORANT Masters Toronto, eliminating the North American favorites from the tournament in a hard-fought lower bracket match. While the defeat stung for fans of Sentinels, it marks a significant boost in momentum for Fnatic, the final EMEA squad still standing.
Sentinels came into the series hoping to climb the lower bracket after an earlier loss, but a slow and calculated Fnatic squad shut them down 2-1 in a tense best-of-three. The match showcased how tight preparation and a deep understanding of compositions can still make or break top-tier teams in Valorant.
Fnatic Outmaneuvers Sentinels in 2-1 Series
The series kicked off on Sunset — Sentinels’ best map, especially with Fnatic perma-banning Pearl. Sentinels looked comfortable, especially on defense, and their coordination shone through as they locked down the map 13-9. Fnatic’s attempts to counter with slow, utility-heavy pushes were mostly shut down by key defensive holds, including a clutch from N4RRATE that kept Sentinels in control.
But on Ascent, Fnatic completely flipped the script. Their Chamber-Vyse composition proved incredibly effective, enabling them to build a dominant 8-4 attacking half. Sentinels struggled to match the pace, and Fnatic’s momentum only grew after winning both pistol rounds. With a clean 13-7 win, they pushed the series to a third map.
Icebox was the decider, and it proved to be the most balanced of the three. Sentinels took advantage of Fnatic’s old-school Sage comp in the first half, but couldn’t translate that into a full-map win. Fnatic’s site executes in the second half were surgical, built on years of Icebox experience. They closed it out 13-9 — a victory that not only ended Sentinels’ tournament, but gave Fnatic a major rank advantage heading into the final days. |

One of the standout moments came from Emir ‘Alfajer’ Beder, who dominated on Killjoy with an Operator, racking up a 16/5 K/D and a monstrous 418 ACS on attack alone. Performances like that are exactly what give a team the boost needed to survive in the lower bracket gauntlet.
G2 Outlasts Gen.G in a Back-and-Forth Thriller
Before Sentinels’ exit, G2 Esports faced off against Gen.G in another lower bracket battle. Despite a weak showing in pistol rounds, G2 outmaneuvered the Pacific region team 2-1 in one of the closest series of the tournament.
G2 opened strong on Lotus, introducing Yoru and Tejo into their comp — a creative shift after their loss to Paper Rex. The strategy worked, helping them dominate the first half 10-2. Gen.G made a small comeback attempt, but G2’s calculated mid-round play and strong individual performances, especially from IGL Jacob ‘valyn’ Batio, sealed the map 13-7.
Haven, however, told a different story. Gen.G came alive, especially on defense, shutting down G2’s pushes with pinpoint utility and impressive Operator shots from t3xture. G2 couldn’t maintain control and dropped the map 11-13.
In the final map, Icebox, Gen.G looked poised to close it out. They led 8-4 at the half and claimed both pistols, giving them a massive advantage. But G2 staged an incredible comeback — eight straight round wins — thanks to calm, adaptive calling from valyn and clutch team play. They snatched the map 13-11 and continued their Valorant Masters journey.
