Fnatic brings back Mini as Assistant Coach to their Valorant team
Fnatic's much-loved Valorant coach, Jacob "mini" Harris, has made a surprising return to the team for the upcoming 2024 VCT season, but this time, he’s taking on a role that’s not exactly what fans might expect.
The revelation followed the Finals of Valorant Champions 2023, where Fnatic had an impressive run, capping off a dominant year. However, the surprise came when Fnatic announced that their head coach, mini, would be stepping down from the roster. To fill the void left by mini, Fnatic brought on board former GenG coach Chris "Elmapuddy" Tebbit, who was guaranteed to boost some of the stats “mini” might not have been able to. This change didn't disrupt Fnatic's winning streak, as they went on to secure victory at Red Bull Home Ground #4 under Elmapuddy's guidance. |
As the esports scene transitions from the 2023–24 off-season to the anticipation of the next season, mini is making a comeback to Fnatic's Valorant team. However, this time around, he won't be taking up the position of head coach.
Fnatic officially welcomed mini back, revealing that he would be serving as their assistant coach for the 2024 season. In response to the announcement, mini addressed his return with happiness, going on Twitter (X) to say:
He clarified his role, explaining that he would be supporting and enabling Elmapuddy to realize his vision for the team. Hopefully, he’ll be able to boost Fnatic by cooperating with Elmapuddy, leading the squad to some more trophies. |
Fnatic fans bombarded mini with questions on Twitter (X) comments about his presence in international LANs. Mini shared that he would be working remotely during the splits but would join the squad for major international events like Masters and Champions, provided they qualify.
Mini's decision to step down from his role in September came from mini himself, as he decided to look for a better work-life balance and settle some personal situations. With this latest development, Fnatic's coaching staff now boasts a formidable duo in Elmapuddy and mini, boosting the support structure for the roster that managed to dominate the competition and get decisive victories at Masters and LOCK//IN in 2023. The collaboration of these two experienced coaches could potentially bring new strategies and insights to Fnatic’s table, contributing to their continued success in the Valorant competitive scene. Fans are undoubtedly eager to see how this coaching dynamic reflects on Fnatic’s results in the 2023 season. Stay tuned for more updates about the Valorant competitive scene!
