Riot Games is once again tapping into nostalgia with a modern twist. The iconic Reaver skin line is officially returning to VALORANT with the Reaver 3.0 bundle, and while longtime fans will instantly recognize the dark, ominous aesthetic, this release takes the collection in a slightly different direction. Instead of a full weapon lineup, Reaver 3.0 focuses on two headline additions that are already sparking debate across the community.

Reaver 3.0 Brings a New Melee and Bandit Debut

Reaver 3.0 marks the third major appearance of one of VALORANT’s most beloved skin lines. This time, Riot is introducing a butterfly-style melee weapon alongside the first-ever Reaver skin for the Bandit, a weapon that only recently entered the game at the start of 2026.

The butterfly knife immediately stands out. Butterfly melees have consistently been fan favorites in tactical shooters, and VALORANT is no exception. The Reaver theme, known for its dark energy effects and sharp audio design, feels like a natural fit. The Bandit skin is equally notable, as it gives the newer weapon instant premium appeal rather than making players wait years for a high-tier cosmetic.

At the time of writing, Riot has not confirmed the exact release date or price. However, the bundle is expected to arrive in the in-game store soon and will likely include standard extras such as a player card, gun buddies, and possibly a spray, even if only two weapon skins are included.

How Reaver 3.0 Compares to Earlier Bundles Previous Reaver bundles set a high bar. The original Reaver collection launched during Episode 1 in 2020 and included skins for the Sheriff, Guardian, Vandal, Operator, and a melee weapon. Reaver returned again in Episode 5 with a second bundle featuring the Ghost, Spectre, Phantom, Odin, and a karambit melee. Both bundles were priced at 7,100 VALORANT Points and offered excellent value for collectors.

In contrast, Reaver 3.0 appears much smaller in scope. Many weapons still lack a Reaver variant, including popular options like the Classic, Bulldog, Marshal, and Judge. For now, Riot seems content to keep the 3.0 bundle limited to the butterfly melee and Bandit skin rather than expanding the lineup.

Community Reaction is Mixed

The smaller size of the bundle has become one of the biggest talking points. Standard VALORANT bundles usually feature four or five weapon skins, making Reaver 3.0 feel unusually light. Some players are also questioning the need for another Reaver release when two full collections already exist.

Others have focused on animation quality. Butterfly knives have set expectations thanks to premium releases like RGX and Champions 2022, and some fans feel those standards have not been fully met here. While many players enjoy how the skins look in-game, social media and teaser comment sections have leaned more critical than celebratory.
