League of Legends' T1 Inducted to the KeSPA Esports Hall of Fame 2023
Faker’s T1 has done it again, racking up wins not just on the League of Legends battlefield but also in the real world of awards. After owning The Game Awards and the LCK Awards, T1 stepped up to the podium for another victory lap at the Esports Hall of Fame 2023 Induction Ceremony, hosted by the Korea e-Sports Association (KeSPA), and received the praise and popularity boost they deserve. Let’s take a look at the trophies T1 took home.
On December 19, at the S-Plex Center Building in Seoul, South Korea, the stage was set for the biggest names in Korea’s Esports history to be awarded for their incredible performances during 2023. T1 LoL was crowned Esports Team of the Year, and this was just the beginning. The legendary Choi “Zeus” Woo-je, Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok, and Ryu “Keria” Min-seok walked away with the 2023 Stars awards, turning the ceremony into a T1 celebration. |
Now, this wasn't just a League of Legends event. The spotlight extended to standout players from various esports titles, like Tekken EVO champ Bae “Knee” Jae-Min, FC Online player Kwak “KWAK” Jun-hyouk, and Street Fighter pro Kim “M.Lizard” Gwan-woo. It was an all-star gathering to honor the best in the game.
What's fascinating is that the Esports Hall of Fame’s Stars category winners were chosen by the fans, and there were a whopping 20,000 of them, four times more than the previous year. Nominees got voted on based on their killer performances in both local and global competitions throughout the year.
Now, let's talk about T1's big three: Zeus, Faker, and Keria. These powerhouses not only brought home the gold for Korea at the Asian Games 2022 in Hangzhou but also dominated Worlds 2023. The 3-0 triumph against Weibo Gaming at the Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul was the icing on the cake.
Throughout the night, the awards kept boosting the World Champions. T1 bagged Esports Team of the Year at the Esports Awards 2023, with Faker picking up Esports PC Player of the Year. As if that wasn't enough, Faker was also awarded the title of Best Esports Athlete at The Game Awards 2023. Talk about a winning streak!
The awards for T1 continued at the LCK Awards 2023, where T1 not only claimed the All LCK 1st Team in Spring but also dominated individual categories. Faker emerged as the Player of the Year, and Keria was the most awarded player of the 2023 LCK.
Let's give a shoutout to KeSPA, the brains behind the Esports Hall of Fame. This South Korean organization is the heartbeat of esports in the country, organizing tournaments, setting standards, and ensuring fair play. They're the unsung heroes making sure the esports world keeps spinning.
2023 has been T1’s year. We can't wait to see what triumphs they'll achieve next. Stay tuned for more!
