Prime Gaming and Riot are Ending the League of Legends Capsule Reward

Riot Games recently announced that it will end its long-lasting partnership with Prime Gaming in March 2024. This collaboration provided League of Legends players with monthly in-game rewards including champion shards, Riot Points, and an XP Boost.

This marks the end of an era for the League of Legends community, which has enjoyed these perks for several years.

Prime Gaming, known for boosting Amazon Prime memberships with exclusive gaming benefits, started this collaboration with Riot Games multiple years ago, extending beyond League of Legends to include titles like Legends of Runeterra, League of Legends: Wild Rift, Teamfight Tactics, and Valorant.

Players were awarded various free items and currency on a monthly basis, elevating their gaming experience and giving them access to premium-paid content without any extra expenses. However, Riot Games confirmed in an announcement on Twitter (X) that Prime Gaming chose not to extend the promotional agreement throughout 2024. While items earned through this collaboration will remain in player inventories across all games, the monthly capsule drops will cease starting in April 2024.

Riot issued an announcement stating the following:

“An update for players claiming Prime Gaming loot:

Prime Gaming has decided not to renew our promotion, which means the last capsule drops will end in March 2024 across all of our games. We know this is disappointing and wanted to let you know as soon as we could.

You can continue to claim drops for the next few months, and any Prime Gaming content unlocked prior to March 2024 will remain in your account.”

The League of Legends community has responded with a mix of sadness and upset, as many players have grown accustomed to the routine of unlocking Prime Gaming capsules. For several years, these monthly drops have been a source of excitement, offering players a chance to boost their in-game experience.

As the community processes this news, discussions are emerging about the potential impact on Prime Gaming subscriptions. Some players have expressed their disappointment, stating that the end of the collaboration might influence their decision to cancel their Prime memberships in 2024.

Amazon has commented that they will be stepping away from their gaming experience enhancement program, so League of Legends might not be the last title to lose the Prime benefits.

Despite the mixed emotions it may evoke, the collaboration between Riot Games and Prime Gaming undeniably left a lasting mark on the League of Legends experience.

Riot’s gaming community is hopeful that the million-dollar company behind League of Legends searches for another potential partner for a reward program.
