Riot Announces the Return of Nexus Blitz, but also a New Mythic Chroma
Welcome, Summoners and League of Legends enthusiasts! We've got some good and some bad news for you. Nexus Blitz, the limited-time mode that had us all hooked back in 2018, is making a comeback. Well, almost.
Originally, Riot Games had fans counting down the days to October 24th, 2 PM Central Time, for the return of Nexus Blitz during the Worlds 2023 event. Everyone got that hype boost and was just about ready to jump back into the madness of this fun-filled mode!
But two days ago, things took a bit of a nosedive when Riot clarified their announcement on Twitter. It turns out that the mode won't be dropping on October 24th, but rather on October 25th at the same time. Ouch! So close, yet so far. The tweet went as follows:
"Ok when we said 'Oct 24 at 2 PM CT' we MEANT to say 'Oct 25 at 2 PM PT.' hold your hype a little longer and we’ll see you tomorrow."
The good news is that Nexus Blitz is available now, so you can round up your friends and dive back into the action!
Breakout True Damage Ekko
Now, onto a more serious matter. Riot Games has unveiled a new $200 League of Legends chroma, and this one is creating quite a buzz. If you recall the Dark Cosmic Erasure Jhin chroma that sparked controversy in the League of Legends community, get ready for a sequel. This time, it's for True Damage Ekko.
Just like the Jhin chroma, you can only obtain it by buying a bunch of capsules, and your chances are a mere 1% until you've opened 30 of them, with each capsule you open boosting your chances ever so slightly. But this time around, there's a twist. When you buy five, ten, 15, or 20 capsules, you're guaranteed a 'music skin,' which can be a Pentakill, K/DA, True Damage, or HeartSteel skin. So, there's more to gain, at least! |
But let's not forget the backlash. Some folks are not thrilled with this approach. The famous League of Legends YouTuber SkinSpotlights even posted the skin video using the title “Mythic Scam”. With the ridiculous price tag and the need to open 30 capsules, it's not everyone's cup of tea. After all, $200 for a chroma might not sit well with everyone.
It appears that Riot is pushing forward with their money-making strategy, and we'll have to wait and see what they have in store for us next. The League of Legends community remains divided, and the future of in-game cosmetics is anything but certain.
Stay tuned, we’ll keep you updated on all things League of Legends.
