PSG Destroys FlyQuest in MSI 2024, Caedrel Blames Inspired
League of Legends analyst Caedrel singled out one player as responsible for FlyQuest’s disappointing showing at MSI 2024.
FlyQuest appeared motivated to break the NA curse and prove their worth after defeating PSG on the first day of the MSI, but it was evidently not to be. Despite the boost in motivation from their earlier victory, T1 absolutely destroyed the NA League of Legends squad, leaving them unable to surprise the world. Shortly after, PSG came back with vengeance in their hearts and took down FlyQuest, ending their MSI 2024 run.
This means that Team Liquid is the only North American team left in the tournament for the LCS.
Given T1's recent victory at LoL Worlds in 2023, it wasn't shocking that FlyQuest faced defeat against them. Historically, LCS teams have struggled against LCK teams, and this trend persisted at MSI 2024. However, FlyQuest's defeat was remarkable for all the wrong reasons: they lost so quickly that they broke the record for the fastest international BO3 set ever, with a combined game length of just over 45 minutes. This exceeded the previous record set by the Golden Guardians the year before by three minutes, as the previous record was held by a 48-minute set. |
Despite having one final opportunity to survive in the League of Legends MSI, PSG Talon, riding on the confidence boost they received from watching the LCS squad fall to T1, delivered a dominating performance and eliminated FlyQuest with two consecutive wins, securing their spot in the bracket stage and sending the NA contenders right back to the airport.
In a Play-Ins stage rematch between PSG Talon and Fly Quest, the PCS representatives avenged their previous loss with a very convincing 2-0 victory. The second match was so one-sided that PSG secured 28 kills compared to Flyquest's mere 5 kills. PSG has been creeping up the international League of Legends competitive scene ladder over the last couple of years, and we wouldn’t be shocked to see them succeed in the Bracket Stage. |
Following the defeat, former League of Legends pro-player and caster Caedrel came across a post on X (formerly Twitter) suggesting that Inspired was the only FlyQuest player who performed well, based on his KDA. However, Caedrel disagreed, highlighting the Polish player's selfish playstyle as a major factor in FlyQuest's loss.
Caedrel commented the following:
“This is POV: You get all the kills on your team and MVP on OP.GG, but then you blame your teammates when you’re the one who secretly inted it, but the stats don’t tell that, you know? The stats don’t tell that you were the problem because Inspired f****d the game multiple times, but he got kills, so it looks like he’s not a problem.”
League fans on social media echoed this sentiment, blaming Inspired and Bwipo for the team's poor performance at the League of Legends MSI. While Inspired did record the best KDA ratio among FlyQuest players with 4.6, fans criticized his selfish approach to gameplay. When everything goes smoothly, Inspired tends to dominate opponents, but becomes "disconnected" from his team when faced with particularly challenging opponents. This disconnect between Inspired's playstyle and the rest of the team's approach was evident throughout MSI, indicating a potential issue that may have persisted from the LCS regular season.
