Karsa Announces Retirement, Closing an Era in League of Legends

Hung “Karsa” Hao-Hsuan has officially closed the book on one of the longest and most influential careers in competitive League of Legends. After 11 years at the highest level, the veteran jungler announced his retirement from professional play, marking the end of an era for fans across the PCS, LPL, and global League scene.

Karsa shared the news through an emotional video on his personal social media channels. In his message, he reflected on the journey rather than the destination, explaining that it was time to pause, step back, and say goodbye to the identity of “player Karsa.” While he confirmed he will continue forward in a different role, he deliberately left his next chapter open, adding to the sense that this decision came from thoughtful reflection rather than burnout or frustration.

His professional career began in 2014, but it was with Flash Wolves in 2015 that Karsa truly became a household name. That period remains one of the happiest and most defining stretches of his career. Known for his proactive jungle pathing, sharp early-game instincts, and fearless engages, Karsa helped Flash Wolves reach a top-eight finish at the 2015 World Championship in his very first appearance on the global stage. Karsa became living proof of how any LoL player can boost an Esport's visibility overseas. Over the next three years, the team became a dominant force in the LMS, collecting four domestic split titles and securing two top-four finishes at the Mid-Season Invitational in 2017 and 2018.

Those performances opened the door to the LPL, where Karsa joined Royal Never Give Up during one of the organization’s most iconic eras. Playing alongside Jian “Uzi” Zi-Hao, he lifted the MSI trophy in 2018 and added two LPL championships to his résumé. Although he shared jungle duties with Liu “Mlxg” Shi-Yu, Karsa often took the starting role, earning respect for his consistency and adaptability in a highly competitive environment.

In 2020, he moved to Top Esports, where he once again proved his value by winning another domestic title and reaching the World Championship semifinals, his deepest Worlds run to date. That top-four finish, following a loss to Suning, remains one of the highlights of his career and a testament to his ability to perform under immense pressure.

Karsa continued competing in the LPL until 2023, spending time with Victory Five and Weibo Gaming. While the results were respectable, additional trophies proved elusive, and he eventually found himself benched after the 2023 Spring Split. Rather than quietly fading away, he returned to the PCS in 2024, first joining CTBC Flying Oysters and later signing with PSG Talon for the 2025 season.

That final year delivered one last shot at Worlds. PSG Talon qualified for the 2025 World Championship after finishing third in the LCP Season Finals. Unfortunately, the Swiss stage did not go as planned, and the team exited early without a single win. Even so, the result did little to diminish Karsa’s legacy as one of the most recognizable and respected junglers the Pacific region has ever produced.

For many fans, Karsa’s career also represents the aspirational side of ranked play. His game sense, pathing discipline, and objective control are often cited as qualities players try to emulate when climbing solo queue. It is no surprise that discussions around improvement frequently reference services like LoL boosting, especially among players who want to experience higher tiers of play while studying how elite junglers approach decision-making. While professional success can never be replicated through shortcuts alone, Karsa’s journey remains a powerful reminder of what mastery, patience, and long-term growth can achieve in League of Legends.

TES Karsa retires from LoL

As he steps away from competition, Karsa leaves behind more than titles and highlights. He leaves a blueprint for regional pride, international ambition, and longevity in a game where careers are often short. Whatever role he chooses next, his influence on League of Legends is already firmly secured.
