Czechia and Hungary Unveil Esports Nations Cup LoL Rosters

The competitive League of Legends scene is preparing for a unique international tournament. As anticipation builds for the upcoming Esports Nations Cup (ENC), several countries are beginning to finalize and reveal their official lineups.

Recently, both the Czech Republic and Hungary confirmed their player selections. These rosters showcase an interesting mix of established League of Legends EMEA Championship (LEC) players and prominent figures from the European Regional Leagues (ERLs).

LoL ENC Czech Republic roster

The Czech Republic's Star-Studded Lineup

The Czech Republic has assembled a highly competitive roster featuring some of the most recognizable names in European League of Legends.

The confirmed starting lineup and coaching staff include:

  • Toplane: Petr "bobista" Fojtík
  • Jungle: Tomáš "Twight" Kyselák
  • Midlane: Marek "Humanoid" Brázda
  • AD Carry: Matyáš "Carzzy" Orság
  • Support: Adam "Jackies" Jeřábek
  • Substitutes: Patrik "Patrik" Jírů (AD Carry), Šimon "OMON" Řiháček (Midlane)
  • Head Coach: Aleš "Freeze" Kněžínek

Jackies Steps into the Support Role

LEC followers will quickly recognize Humanoid, Carzzy, and Jackies, who currently compete for Team Vitality and GIANTX. Because Humanoid is locked in as the starting midlaner, Jackies is temporarily shifting to the support position for this tournament.

This is not the first time Jackies has played support in a competitive setting. During the last offseason, he occupied the support role in a local Czech national tournament and secured a victory. His adaptability could be a major asset for the squad.

Czechia’s Path to Bypassing the Qualifiers

The ENC features a point system where players accumulate points based on their recent competitive achievements. These points determine which countries receive a direct invite to the main event in Riyadh this November, bypassing the June qualifiers entirely. To secure this advantage, a country's submitted roster must rank among the top 16.

While standard players might look at LoL boosting as a quick path to high-level rank achievements, these esports professionals must earn their competitive standings through official regional campaigns. Interestingly, Czechia's regional league players are currently providing a major boost to the team's point totals:

  • Bobista earned 300 points by winning the NLC Winter Split.
  • Twight contributed 200 points as a finalist in the Czech ERL with BRUTE.

These ERL achievements currently yield more points than those of their LEC teammates, as LEC point contributions remain dependent on final Spring Split standings. For context, finishing in 5th or 6th place in a single LEC split rewards fewer points than winning a regional ERL. According to current standings, the Czech Republic is in a strong position to secure a direct spot in the main event.

LoL ENC Hungary roster

Hungary’s Roster: A Generational Blend

Hungary has also locked in its seven-man roster. Unlike the Czech Republic, the Hungarian squad will have to earn their spot at the main event by competing through the Europe East Qualifiers.

The Hungarian lineup consists of:

  • Toplane: Tamás "Vizicsacsi" Kiss, Zsombor "Lamortius" István Boros (Substitute)
  • Jungle: Dániel "bluerzor" Subicz, Tibor "Blueboar" Jobban (Substitute)
  • Midlane: Róbert "Robenong" Malecz
  • AD Carry: Bence "Endless" Tóth-Szeles
  • Support: Vencel "Passzi" Urbin
  • Head Coach: Daniel "tomoRRR" Tomor

Experience Meets Emerging Talent

The Hungarian roster is anchored by veteran toplaner Vizicsacsi. At 33 years old, he brings a wealth of top-tier experience, including two World Championship appearances in 2019 and 2021. This tournament marks his first time representing Hungary in a national competition.

Joining him in the upper half of the map is Bluerzor, a highly decorated ERL jungler who won the EMEA Masters title with Team Heretics in 2022.

The rest of the roster features promising talent from across the European semi-professional ecosystem. Midlaner Robenong has been competing in the Arabian League, while the botlane duo of Endless and Passzi recently secured a third-place finish in the Esports Balkan League (EBL) Winter Split with Lenovo Legion Honvéd.

For young prospects like Lamortius, a 17-year-old Challenger toplaner serving as a substitute, reaching the upper echelons of the European ladder requires immense individual grind. Under the guidance of coach tomoRRR, this roster offers a balanced mix of veteran leadership and young talent.

What is the Esports Nations Cup?

The Esports Nations Cup is an international tournament designed around national representation. Instead of playing under established esports clubs or organizations, players represent their home nations, mirroring the structure of traditional sporting events.

While the tournament promises high-stakes competition and features prominent LEC players, the event has also faced public discussion. The tournament is part of a broader esports ecosystem supported by public funding from Saudi Arabia, which has drawn some criticism and debate regarding sportswashing within the gaming community.

Looking Ahead

All national rosters must be submitted ahead of the June qualifiers. For teams that do not secure a direct invite, these qualifiers will be the final opportunity to earn a spot at the main event in Riyadh this November. Czechia’s roster has been submitted for validation, while Hungary is preparing to make its run through the Europe East bracket.
