DSG signs iiTzTimmy’s The Dojo for Apex Legends ALGS Year 4
In the first big contract signing of 2024 for the Apex Legends competitive scene, Disguised Toast's esports organization, DSG, has successfully inked a deal with iiTzTimmy's Apex Legends squad, The Dojo. This partnership marks the start of DSG’s presence in the ALGS Year 4, with Disguised Toast’s organization having recently been welcomed into the prestigious 12-team Apex Legends partnership program alongside giants like Fnatic, TSM, and FURIA.
The Dojo: Rising Stars of ALGSThe Dojo catapulted onto the scene during the tail-end of ALGS 2023, starring streaming sensation Timothy "iiTzTimmy" An, Dezignful, Enemy, and coach Bronzey. Their unexpected qualification for the World Championship through the NA LCQ marked a turning point, and as if the ALGS fans needed another adrenaline boost, the rookie team ended up in an impressive fourth place at the Championship. |
Now, under the banner of DSG, The Dojo is set for even greater success in the 2024 season.
Disguised Toast revealed that he had contemplated bringing iiTzTimmy and The Dojo under the DSG umbrella when the organization joined Apex Legends in 2023. However, iiTzTimmy's contract with 100 Thieves at the time led Toast to hold back. The streamer-turned-entrepreneur confessed,
"I actually avoided approaching Timmy last year because people were saying, 'you should pick up Timmy, he’s in the World finals, and you guys are friends, so it would make sense.'"
iiTzTimmy's Refused DSG’s Salary Offer
iiTzTimmy, the key figure of The Dojo, shocked the Apex Legends community by refusing the salary from DSG. However, this doesn’t mean he’s not joining DSG; on the contrary, he’s doing it for free!
Despite being a content creator signed with 100 Thieves, iiTzTimmy's unique arrangement allows him to compete under DSG while boosting his teammates' salaries directly. Disguised Toast acknowledged the meaning of this unprecedented decision, stating,
"So the financial support we’re getting from Apex Legends can be then moved directly to his teammates so they have a livable salary."
Financial Realities and Team Spirit
Disguised has been open about the financial challenges esports organizations face, emphasizing the need to make the industry more sustainable. Toast's transparency regarding DSG's financial status and his commitment to responsible financial management resonated in iiTzTimmy's decision. The Apex Legends streaming sensation expressed his happiness at ensuring his teammates received bigger salaries, stating,
"I'm just super happy that the boys got some salaries, you know, an org to represent. I think they need it more than I do, and honestly, I’m just happy I can give them this opportunity and have a team to represent." With this collaboration, iiTzTimmy finds himself in an unprecedented position, becoming possibly the first pro player to simultaneously sign with two esports organizations, DSG and 100 Thieves. |
