NRG is returning to the NA Counter-Strike 2 competitions in 2024

The legendary eSports organisation is making its triumphant return to the world of professional Counter-Strike 2 after a four-year hiatus. The announcement, made official on November 29, revealed a fresh North American roster, marking the organisation's re-entry into CS2.

The journey began with speculation on November 4, when reports surfaced that NRG was exploring the possibility of returning to Counter-Strike after a prolonged absence. At that point, player contracts were yet to be inked, leaving fans eager for the unfolding developments.

Fast forward to November 29, and the return of NRG to CS2 became a reality. The momentous occasion was celebrated in a skit announcement video featuring NRG co-owner Sapnap and CEO Andy Miller. Leading the charge for NRG are familiar faces Damian ‘daps’ Steele and Vincent ‘Brehze’ Cayonte, both making a comeback to the NRG family. Their return follows the sale of their CS:GO roster to Evil Geniuses in 2019. The new blood set to boost NRG’s roster are the seasoned duo Joshua ‘oSee’ Ohm, former AWPer for Team Liquid, Justin ‘FaNg’ Coakley from Complexity, and Jadan ‘HexT’ Postma. These players, recently released by their former teams during the offseason, found a new home with NRG.

The roster, featuring names like Tarik ‘tarik’ Celik and Ethan ‘Ethan’ Arnold, secured a commendable fourth-place finish in the 2019 StarLadder Berlin Major. Later, under the Evil Geniuses banner, they clinched victories in the 2019 ESL One: New York and the StarSeries i-League Season 8.
