Counter Strike 2: The Intel Extreme Masters China 2024 Confirmed Teams

Counter Strike 2 offers players some of the most exciting Esports events in the gaming industry, and while Counter Strike online tournaments are fun, the ESL LAN events take the entertainment to a whole new level. The first big CS2 tournament of 2024 will be the IEM China, running from April 8 to 14.

The ESL has 16 slots for professional Counter Strike teams and will award a prize pool of $250.000. Teams that perform well in the tournament will also get a point boost for the BLAST Premier, and the winner will automatically secure a spot in the IEM Cologne 2024 later this year.

Who is participating in IEM China 2024?

The IEM China will feature 16 Counter Strike 2 teams, with the ESL having confirmed the presence of FaZe Clan, Furia Esports, Heroic, Mouz, Complexity, Astralis, Lynn Vision, Virtus.pro, Monte, Cloud9, and G2 Esports. Each of the Regional Closed Qualifier winners will be awarded one of the remaining 5 slots.

Each region’s last qualifiers will take place at the start of February, so a final team list will be confirmed just two months before the IEM China begins. This should give the 16 squads enough time to prepare and practice their aim. For now, we already know that the European slot will be awarded to either Team Falcons, BIG, Bet Boom Team, or Eternal Fire.

The Intel Extreme Masters China will start with a group stage featuring two groups of eight teams. The top three teams will advance to the playoffs, where the winners will be automatically qualified for the semifinals, and the second and third place teams will meet in the quarterfinals.

As for the map pool being used for the IEM China, our favorite Counter Strike 2 teams can expect to play on Mirage, Inferno, Nuke, Overpass, Vertigo, Ancient, and Anubis. This map selection seems to be a balanced choice that will avoid boosting any specific team’s chances too much, but we all know everyone has a favorite map.

Winning a cash prize and a couple hundred BLAST Prime points is great, but the real prize here is the guaranteed slot at IEM Cologne 2024. Most professional teams never make it to the “Cathedral of Counter Strike," so everyone will be going all out to try and grab this opportunity.

The Winner Goes to IEM Cologne 2024

The IEM Cologne 2024 will take place in the Lanxess Arena, starting on August 16 and ending on August 18. This year, 24 teams will be competing for a $1M prize pool, with the winner taking home a $400.000 boost, a contribution to the Intel Grand Slam, and the second EPT Championship of 2024. Keep in mind that this is the first Counter Strike 2 tournament in “the Cathedral,” so whoever gets crowned champion here will start a new legacy that will never be forgotten!

The IEM China 2024 winner will be automatically set in the IEM Cologne group stage, along with the IEM Katowice and Dallas winners. The ESL Pro League Season 19 winners will join them, along with the four highest-ranking teams according to the global ESL World Ranking.
