The Counter-Strike 2 gaming community is on the edge of their seats as the first ever CS2 Major, the PGL Copenhagen Major 2024, approaches. The opening matchups have finally been revealed, setting the stage for the biggest stage in Counter-Strike history where you can admire the best pros in their display of skill and competition. Ever since the days of CS:GO, the Copenhagen Major has been a historical landmark of gaming for First-Person Shooter players around the world. Over the last couple of weeks, we’ve witnessed some of the best teams in Counter-Strike battle it out to try and boost their odds of reaching this huge event, but there isn’t enough space for everyone in the historical tournament.
The journey to the Copenhagen Major began with the Regional Major Ranking events, providing teams with the opportunity to qualify for this historic tournament. Europe will be well represented with 17 teams, while the Americas will send five teams, and the Asia-Pacific Region will feature two teams. While it may seem Europe is at a clear advantage, this will be a free-for-all tournament, and when the Counter-Strike 2 Copenhagen Major ends, only one team will be left standing to claim the coveted trophy and the title of the first ever CS2 Major Champion.
The event will start on March 17 and extend through the end of the month. For the opening stage, the PGL Copenhagen Major will adopt a Swiss system format. Sixteen of the 24 participating teams will compete in the opening stage using a Swiss System format, with all elimination and advancement matches being best-of-three series, while other matches will be best-of-one.
