MENA tournaments also receive a boost, with two YaLLa Compass events hosted in the UAE and Qatar. Notably, the Esports World Cup 2025 ups its prize pool to $1.25 million, showcasing growing investment in the scene.

PGL and BLAST Revolutionize Tournament Formats PGL, a staple of Counter-Strike tournaments, is ramping up its schedule with four major events in Cluj-Napoca, Bucharest, Astana, and Belgrade, each featuring $1.25 million prize pools. Notably, PGL introduces third-place matches and adopts best-of-five finals for added drama.

Meanwhile, BLAST reshapes its tournament formats with changes to its Bounty and Open events. In the Bounty tournaments, teams won’t know their opponents until the final round, creating unpredictable and exciting matchups. This reseeding system is a refreshing innovation in CS2’s competitive landscape, increasing viewer engagement.

Intel Extreme Masters: A Classic Gets an Upgrade

The Intel Extreme Masters (IEM) series continues its legacy with five international tournaments in 2025. Highlights include iconic events like IEM Katowice and IEM Cologne, each with $1 million prize pools. Other events, such as IEM Spring, Dallas, and Chengdu, increase their prize pools to $300,000, further boosting the stakes.

All IEM finals will now follow a best-of-five format, adding a layer of intensity to the climactic moments of each tournament.
