Apex Legends Roadmap: New Legends, Loot Changes & Season 32

I still remember the magical afternoon Apex Legends shadow-dropped out of nowhere. It was pure, unadulterated battle royale chaos. Fast forward to today, the game just turned seven years old, and Respawn Entertainment casually dropped a roadmap teasing content all the way up to Season 32.

Thirty-two seasons. Seeing that number written out definitely added a few gray hairs to my head, but honestly? It is incredibly refreshing to see this level of transparency. Respawn usually keeps its cards close to its chest, only hyping up the immediate future.

Apex Legends Season 29

Here is exactly what we have to look forward to over the next year of Apex Games, with Respawn's full 12-month look ahead at new Apex Legends characters, class boosting, and massive gameplay overhauls is a huge win for the community.

The Present: Season 28

We are currently knee-deep in the first phase of this roadmap with Season 28. It’s already proving to be a highly solid update. The introduction of Hardlight and the new breaching mechanics have completely changed how we push buildings. If you’re currently grinding ranked and looking for a legitimate Apex boost to your win rate, mastering these new breaching strategies right now is the easiest way to catch your opponents off guard. But as fun as the current meta is, the horizon looks even better.

Season 29: Movement Updates and a New Skirmisher

It’s been roughly a year since Sparrow joined the games, but Season 29 is finally bringing us a brand-new Legend. All we know right now is that they belong to the Skirmisher class. This puts them in the same aggressive, high-mobility category as fan favorites like Wraith, Octane, and Ash.

Naturally, releasing a new Skirmisher pairs perfectly with a planned "movement update" coming in the exact same season, alongside some much-needed map quality-of-life tweaks. The roadmap also teases a cryptic "respawn evolution update." While details are scarce, it sounds like Respawn is cooking up a brand-new mechanic for how we bring our eliminated teammates back into the fray.

Season 30: Loot Overhauls and World’s Edge

Season 30 scales back the shiny new toys to focus heavily on the core health of the game. First up: an update to World’s Edge. As the game’s second-oldest map (and arguably the best battleground in the rotation), any changes here are bound to strictly alter the competitive flow.

More importantly, Respawn is planning a massive overhaul to the game's looting mechanics. According to franchise director Josh Bridge, the goal is to streamline power progression and make looting feel genuinely impactful again. Toss in a planned rework for a Recon legend, and the mid-game pacing of Season 30 is going to feel entirely different.

Season 31: Akimbo Upgrades and BR Tweaks

The roadmap gets intentionally vague by the time we hit Season 31, promising a broad "battle royale update." This could honestly mean anything—from adjustments to drop-ship mechanics and ring collapse times, to a total overhaul of the scoring system. We’ll just have to wait and see.

What we do know is that another individual Legend is getting a rework, and Respawn is blessing another weapon with an akimbo attachment. We’ve already seen the Mozambique and P2020 get the deadly dual-wield treatment in recent months. My money? I'm betting on an Akimbo Alternator. Just imagine the sheer terror of pushing a team holding down a room with dual Alternators. It would be beautifully lethal.

Final Thoughts

The competitive meta is about to be turned completely upside down. With all these system overhauls on the horizon, players who want to secure those top-tier dive trails without eventually looking into Apex Legends boosting are going to need to adapt quickly. Relying on old habits won't work when the loot pool, movement mechanics, and respawn systems all shift underneath us.

It’s wild to think about where this game started compared to where it’s heading. What are you most excited about on the new roadmap?
