ALGS Championships Head to Sapporo for 2025 and 2026 Events

The Apex Legends Global Series (ALGS) is heading back to Japan in a big way. EA and Respawn Entertainment have confirmed that the next two ALGS Championships will take place in the city of Sapporo, hosted at the iconic Sapporo Dome — officially named the Daiwa House PREMIST DOME due to sponsorship.

This isn't Sapporo's first time in the Apex Legends spotlight. The venue previously welcomed the Year 4 ALGS Championship, drawing in over 34,000 fans. Now, it’s gearing up to be the battleground once again for the best Apex squads from around the world.

When and Where: ALGS Championship Dates Confirmed

The ALGS Championship 2025 is locked in for January 15–18, 2026, and will feature 40 elite teams. Following that, the 2026 Championship is scheduled to take place during Winter 2027, continuing the competitive saga in Sapporo.

This back-to-back commitment not only highlights Apex Legends' strong following in Japan but also signals a broader push to boost the game’s global esports presence. It’s a major moment for fans and competitors alike, as teams fight to climb the ranks and secure their spot on one of the biggest stages in Apex Legends esports.

Road to Sapporo: Championship Points and Standings

The journey to the ALGS Championship 2025 is already underway. Teams across the globe are currently battling it out in regional events, earning valuable Championship Points to secure their place among the top 24.

Leading the standings right now are Team Falcons and Alliance, sitting at 4,740 and 4,440 points respectively. Both squads have delivered consistent, top-tier performances throughout the season. They dominated the ALGS Open 2025, finishing first and second, and also took the crown in their respective regional Pro League splits. With this track record, they’re the ones to beat in Sapporo next January.

Who’s in the Race? Notable Teams in the Top 24

The current top-tier teams competing for a Championship spot read like a who’s who of Apex Legends esports. Beyond Falcons and Alliance, the top 24 includes big names such as:

  • Gen.G Esports
  • Shopify Rebellion
  • 100 Thieves
  • Ninjas in Pyjamas
  • NRG
  • Sentinels
  • FURIA Esports
  • Natus Vincere
  • Fnatic
  • JD Gaming

These organizations are no strangers to top-level competition, and they’ll be pushing hard to boost their standings as the season progresses.

All Eyes on Riyadh

One of the season’s biggest opportunities to earn more Championship Points comes in July, at the Esports World Cup 2025 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Running from July 10–13, this event boasts a massive $2 million prize pool. More importantly for ALGS hopefuls, the winning team will walk away with 3,000 Championship Points—a potential game-changer in the race to qualify for Sapporo.

For teams looking to boost their chances, this tournament could be the deciding factor. A strong finish here could mean the difference between securing a Championship invite or falling just short.

Missed the Cut? There’s Still Hope

Even if a team doesn’t make it into the top 24 of the Championship Point standings, all hope isn’t lost. EA has confirmed a couple of alternate paths to qualification:

  • Finish Top 2 in ALGS Pro League Split 2 in your region.
  • Finish Top 2 in your regional Last Chance Qualifier.

These additional routes ensure that even teams that have struggled early on can mount a comeback and fight for a place at the Sapporo Dome.

What’s Next? Ticket Info Coming Soon

While competitive Apex fans eagerly follow the race to Sapporo, EA has also teased that ticket information for the ALGS Year 5 Championship will be released in the near future. With the massive turnout at the last Sapporo event, tickets are expected to sell out quickly, especially with the growing popularity of Apex Legends esports in Japan.

The return to Japan signals more than just a location choice — it represents the continued growth and boosting of Apex Legends as a global esport. With fan-favorite teams climbing the rank ladder and high-stakes events on the horizon, the next two ALGS Championships promise to deliver unforgettable moments.

Whether you’re a die-hard follower of competitive Apex or just diving into the scene, now’s the perfect time to tune in, follow your favorite teams, and watch the battle for Sapporo unfold.
