Wild Rift Game Director Abandons Riot

Jared Berbach, who was in charge of Wild Rift, is leaving Riot Games.

As the Game Director, Jared Berbach was responsible for boosting the overall development of League of Legends: Wild Rift. This includes gameplay mechanics, balance, visual design, and other aspects of the game's development.

Ensuring that players have a positive and engaging experience in Wild Rift would have been a primary focus of his role. This involves listening to player feedback, analyzing game data, and making adjustments to enhance gameplay and address issues with a team of developers, designers, and other professionals involved in the game's creation.

Jared Berbach, who has been in charge of League of Legends: Wild Rift for several years now, has said that he is leaving Riot Games. Berbach says that his job was cut because of a "reduction in force" by the company that made League of Legends, Riot Games. Even with this loss, he thanked everyone at Riot Mobile and praised Riot's efforts to be the game company that cares the most about its players.

Berbach wrote on LinkedIn: "After just short of four years at Riot Games, it’s time for me to embark on the next chapter of my career. Unfortunately, like many others throughout the games industry in 2023, my role was affected by a reduction in force." Even though he knew the situation was hard and a little scary, Berbach was still hopeful about his future plans. He said that he was glad to have the chance to keep boosting new titles and creating great games for players.

Berbach also said nice things about his coworkers at Riot Games. He said that working with industry leaders was a privilege and hailed them for being kind and ready to share what they knew. He also praised Riot for how hard they work to give fans what they want.

Berbach leaving Riot Games is definitely a bad thing for League of Legends: Wild Rift. Riot Games stopped western esports events for the spin-off title in November 2022. Since then, a number of staff members have left the project. In January, 46 people at Riot Games were let go.
