G2 Gozen Have Become the First Red Bull Instalock Tournament Champions

The curtains fall, the spotlights gather on one spot, and in the heart of London, at the prestigious Red Bull Gaming Sphere, one team stands proud above all others. G2 Gozen made history by emerging victorious in the first-ever Red Bull Instalock tournament, organized following the huge success of Red Bull's "A League of it's own". After facing off against legendary opponents like Shopify Rebellion, the champions of VCT Game Changers 2023, G2 Gozen rose above and, through their skill and strategy, secured a 3-1 win in a thrilling battle that left VALORANT fans worldwide on the edge of their seats.

The two-day invitational event brought together some of the finest women's VALORANT teams from across the globe, including G2 Gozen, GIANTX, Shopify Rebellion, and Karmine Corp. Hosted by Yinsu Collins and featuring expert insights from Kieran “Kairo” Tulloch, Billie “BillieIDK” Purdie, Matt “Twiggy” Twigg, and Harry “Hazza” Chapman, the tournament delivered high-octane action and intense competition from start to finish, while boosting visibility for female gamers, proving once and for all that gaming has no genders, only champions.

AGONTM by AOC served as the official Monitor Partner for Red Bull Instalock, providing state-of-the-art monitors with a 360 Hz refresh rate and 1 ms response time, ensuring players experienced the game at its best.

Despite the incredible hardware, the journey to victory was anything but easy for G2 Gozen. In the Upper Semi-Finals, they faced off against GIANTX in a fierce battle that ended in GIANTX's favor. However, G2 Gozen's determination and skill shone through in the Lower Bracket, where they got a second chance at securing victory against GIANTX. This time, they did not hesitate and ultimately earned their spot in the Grand Final against Shopify Rebellion.

G2 Gozen's resilience and talent were on full display in the Grand Final, a best-of-five format. Though Shopify Rebellion took an early lead, G2 Gozen quickly turned the tide, claiming victory in three out of the four maps and securing the championship title in spectacular fashion.

Hosted by Megan “Megsoundslikeegg” Garner, the creator show-match provided some comic relief and an extra carriage on the hype train while showcasing the talent and creativity of content creators within the VALORANT community.

Reflecting on their victory, Michaela “Mimi” Lintrup of G2 Gozen expressed gratitude for the learning experience the tournament provided, highlighting the importance of composure and adaptability in high-pressure situations.

Yinsu Collins, the host of Red Bull Instalock, shared her excitement for the event, praising the competitiveness and innovation displayed by the participating teams throughout the tournament.

“I loved my experience at the first ever Red Bull Instalock! The invited teams were incredibly competitive and tackled the format in a really unique way. Throughout the tournament, as the player's normal game plan was out the window, we saw a lot of creativity, pros thinking on their feet, adaptation, and some new approaches to how the game can be played.”

And so, the first Red Bull Instalock tournament ended as a resounding success, showcasing the skill, strategy, and passion of women's VALORANT teams from around the world and boosting visibility for women gamers everywhere. With G2 Gozen emerging as champions, the event set a high standard for professional VALORANT competitions in 2024.
