Faker and Keria Change Champion Choice for Worlds 2023 Skins

The League of Legends community exploded with excitement after T1's big win at Worlds 2023 and doubled down after the T1 organization announced that the same roster that won Worlds would represent them in the 2024 Season. Shortly after, Ahri fans got an adrenaline boost as Faker announced the champion as his choice for his League of Legends Worlds 2023 skin. The anticipation was high, and everyone was ready for another awesome addition to Ahri's skin collection.

However, Faker had a sudden change of heart. Surprising everyone, T1’s captain addressed the championship skin during his stream, announcing that he had decided to go with Orianna instead of Ahri. This left the League community, especially T1 fans, a bit stunned by the sudden change.

Orianna, known for her tricky mechanics and strategic depth, was Faker's final pick. The decision set off a wave of reactions across the League community, with League of Legends enthusiasts flooding Twitter (X) with memes and comments. Ahri, a fan favorite with a ton of skins, lost out to a champion with a more modest selection. The fact is, Ahri’s 17 skins versus Orianna’s 11 make it a sensible decision on Faker’s side.

The news about the Ori skin came during one of Faker's League of Legends on-stream chats, adding a real-time element to the whole situation. As the word spread, fans from all over the world started sharing the news over social networks, boosting posts to the top pages with a mix of feelings—surprise, disappointment, and curiosity.

Faker's reason for the switch was Ahri's already massive collection of 17 different skins. In contrast, Orianna, with just 11 skins, didn't have the same variety. Faker's choice to spotlight Orianna was his way of giving some extra love to a champion he felt deserved it.

While some fans were quick to express their disappointment, others recognized Faker's right to choose a champion that meant something to him personally. It's a reminder that, at the core of these virtual battles, players are guided by their love for the game.

The impact of the decision wasn't limited to Western fans. Korean fans also shared their surprise and shock at this unexpected turn. The switch from Ahri to Orianna created a reaction that went beyond borders, showing the global influence of Faker's choices in the League community.

Renata Glasc Splash Art

As things settled down, T1 fans also found out that Keria might just be changing his selected champion too. A couple of days after the League of Legends Worlds 2023 Grand Finals, Keria revealed that he wanted a skin for Lux; however, since he didn’t play her during the Finals, she couldn’t be chosen. Instead, he opted to boost Bard’s wardrobe since the unusual champion, who is rarely used in competitive play, doesn’t have a lot of skins. This decision made fans frown, as everyone expected the Renata God to pick her instead.

Alas, Keria has apparently changed his mind and is picking Renata for his skin instead!

We can’t wait to check out those splash arts! Stay tuned for more League of Legends news.
