League of Legends Item Descriptions are Causing Chaos and Confusion

League of Legends is going through some crazy changes in 2024, especially with the whole item overhaul thing. And guess what? Players are now throwing their hands up in the air, shouting, "What the heck is going on with these item descriptions, Riot?"

LoL Season 14 Items

League of Legends Season 14 just started, and Riot reworked most items, removed Mythics and even added about thirty new ones to boost our stats in creative new ways. Of course, this will give us a chance to come up with new builds and strategies while bringing back some champions from the “shadow realm," but whenever players read a description on one of these items, it’s like trying to read an ancient language!

Now, we get it. Change is hard, and with League tossing so much new stuff at us at once, it's like trying to navigate a maze blindfolded. But let's talk about these item descriptions: players are straight-up frustrated, and they're not holding back.

So, Riot promised to simplify the lingo on items and make things easier to understand. But here we are, scratching our heads, because apparently some vital details are simply missing from the explanations.

One player went on a rant on Reddit, calling some of the new item descriptions "wildly inconsistent." They were talking about a fresh new support item called the World Atlas, saying it's like decoding ancient hieroglyphics to figure out what it actually does.

“Why is it so difficult to figure out what some items do? I feel like lately it’s not as easy to tell what items do without referring to the wiki or using prior knowledge (which is not very fair to new players). I just feel like a lot of this stuff could be clearer; the wiki descriptions make far more sense.”

And it's not just about the difficulty level. They brought up World Atlas again, saying it doesn't even mention the minion execute thing that support mains are used to, since it’s the only way to boost your gold effectively. Imagine being a new player and having to deal with that. Not cool, Riot, not cool.

Other players jumped on the frustration bandwagon, nodding in agreement. One of them pointed out the struggle with distance measurements, asking the real question:

“My eternal bone to pick: If Horizon Focus buffs spells with greater than 700 range, how is a player in-game supposed to know which abilities qualify? Range is referenced but never listed.”

It's like Riot took a page out of a Sherlock Holmes book and dropped it right into our item shop. The confusion is real, and players are shouting for some clarity.

So, Riot, if you're listening, make those item descriptions crystal clear. We want to play League, not solve a riddle every time we buy something. Keep it simple; keep it real.
