Top League of Legends Teams Boosting Saudi Arabia's Esports World Cup

Top Esports and G2 Esports have successfully advanced to the semifinals of the League of Legends tournament at the Esports World Cup, currently taking place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. In an impressive display of skill and strategy, Top Esports swept Gen.G Esports 2-0, while G2 Esports overcame FlyQuest with a 2-1 victory.

The semifinals promise to be thrilling as Top Esports will face off against G2 Esports, and T1 will go head-to-head with Team Liquid. The tournament is a single-elimination bracket, with the final rounds consisting of best-of-three matches until the grand final on Sunday, which will be a best-of-five showdown.

Top Esports secured their spot in the semifinals by defeating Gen.G Esports in two consecutive maps, both lasting 34 minutes. Lin "Creme" Jian of Top Esports performed exceptionally well, with a KDA ratio of 17-2-15.

On the other hand, G2 Esports faced a more challenging quarterfinal match against FlyQuest. After losing the first map, G2 bounced back with a 36-minute win on the blue side and clinched the series with a 30-minute victory on the red side.

EWC's $1 Million Boost

The stakes are high, with the winning team set to take home $400,000 from the $1 million prize pool. The remaining prize money will be distributed among the other top-performing teams, ensuring that every participant is rewarded for their efforts with a financial boost. The tournament not only offers a huge money reward but also a boost in EWC club points, which contribute to the overall standings in the Esports World Cup.

The excitement continues today, with the semifinals featuring the following matchups: T1 vs. Team Liquid and Top Esports vs. G2 Esports. Fans are eagerly anticipating these matches, especially after witnessing some surprising upsets in the quarterfinals.

One of the biggest shocks was Gen.G's early elimination by Top Esports. Gen.G has been a dominant force on the international stage, and their defeat was unexpected, given their impressive recent performances. Conversely, Top Esports struggled in the 2024 MSI tournament, making their victory over Gen.G even more remarkable.

Fnatic also faced a surprising defeat at the hands of Team Liquid. Despite being a strong contender, Fnatic couldn't overcome Team Liquid, who have earned a reputation for being tough opponents against LEC teams. This victory sets up an exciting semifinal clash between Team Liquid and T1, led by the legendary player Faker. As reigning World Champions, T1 is a formidable team, and their match against the dark horse, Team Liquid, promises to be a highlight of the tournament.

G2 Esports, the only team outside of the LCK and LPL to be considered "top-tier," continues to impress. Although they have yet to win the League of Legends Worlds trophy, their consistent performance makes them a strong contender in any international tournament. Both teams have demonstrated exceptional skill and determination, making G2's upcoming match against Top Esports highly anticipated.
