League of Legends: All Aurora Abilities Revealed

Riot Games has finally revealed the next character to join League of Legends’ ever-expanding roster of champions. Meet Aurora, a magical and somewhat quiet Vastayan with enough curiosity to share, who is bringing a new dynamic to the Summoner's Rift. As a solo-laning skirmisher mage, Aurora was designed to fit the mid-lane but will quickly be adapted to Support, Top, and even the Jungle roles. Her representation of autism adds awareness to the diversity of LoL's champion lineup, and her unique abilities offer exciting new gameplay mechanics. Here’s a detailed look at all of Aurora's abilities and how they can boost your performance in League of Legends.

Aurora: The New Vastayan Champion

Aurora's power comes from her ability to perceive and interact with the veil between the spirit realm and the real world. She can navigate between these realms to gain an advantage in battles. With multiple ways to maneuver around fights, decent damage potential, and an area-of-effect ultimate that traps enemies within, Aurora is set to become a favorite among amateurs and pro-players alike.

Passive: Spirit Abjuration

Aurora’s passive ability, Spirit Abjuration, activates when she damages an enemy three times with spells or auto-attacks. This deals magic damage, pulls a spirit from the enemy, and triggers Spirit Mode. While in Spirit Mode, Aurora gains a movement speed boost, which increases as she collects more spirits. Additionally, her healing abilities are buffed during this time, granting her more sustainability in fights.

Q: Twofold Hex

Twofold Hex is a versatile skill that fires a cursed energy projectile in a straight line, dealing magic damage and marking enemies with spirit energy. When recast, it draws the spirit energy back to Aurora, dealing increased magic damage based on the target's missing health.

W: Across the Veil

Across the Veil allows Aurora to hop in a chosen direction, becoming invisible and entering Spirit Mode upon landing. This ability provides mobility, enabling Aurora to reposition, escape, or re-engage in fights quickly. It’s perfect for both offensive maneuvers and defensive retreats.

E: The Weirding

The Weirding casts a blast of spirit magic that deals magic damage and slows enemies in front of Aurora. She also hops backward while casting, which can help her evade an enemy skill but will hinder her chasing abilities if cast in the wrong direction.

R: Between Worlds

Between Worlds is Aurora’s ultimate ability. She hops forward and releases a pulse of spirit energy upon casting, dealing magic damage and slowing enemies within a circular area. The area then merges with the Spirit Realm, granting Aurora an enhanced Spirit Mode and the ability to move rapidly within the circle. The circle damages, slows, and pulls enemies back to the center, making it difficult for them to escape without using abilities or Flash.

Aurora's Development

Aurora’s development involved repurposing some of her initial concepts for other champions. The spell-stealing mechanic influenced Sylas, the spirit realm theme contributed to Lillia, and parts of her original lore inspired Fiddlestick’s new backstory. Now, Aurora is ready to make her mark on the Summoner’s Rift.

When Will Aurora Be Released in League of Legends?

Based on Riot Games’ regular patch release schedule, Aurora is expected to join the League of Legends champion roster on July 17, 2024, with Patch 14.14. Players can look forward to exploring her unique abilities on the PBE in the weeks leading up to the patch's release on live servers.

Aurora's introduction to League of Legends promises to bring fresh and exciting dynamics to the game. Her ability to navigate between the spirit and real worlds, combined with her powerful and versatile skill set, makes her a compelling choice for players looking to boost their performance in the mid lane. Stay tuned for more updates and start preparing to master Aurora's abilities when she arrives on the Summoner’s Rift.
