Apex Legends Season 21: Upheaval Full Patch Notes

Respawn Entertainment just released Apex Legends Season 21: Upheaval, along with the May 7th patch. The update is live and ready to play!

This season, you can expect huge changes, including a new Legend, Alter, a full map makeover, weapon buffs and nerfs, and tons of boosts to older Legends' abilities. Here's a breakdown of everything new in Apex Legends Season 21's Upheaval update:

Apex Legends Season 21 Patch Notes

New Legend: Alter

Alter is the latest addition to the Legends roster, with a path shrouded in mystery. Respawn described her as an unreliable narrator but a very reliable fighter.

Alter's abilities and Legend Upgrades include:

  • Passive: Gift From The Rift - Alter can remotely interact with a deathbox to claim one item (excluding Shield Cores).
  • Tactical: Void Passage - Alter creates a portal passageway through a surface.
  • Ultimate: Void Nexus - Alter establishes a regroup point where allies can remotely interact to open a phase tunnel back to that location.

At Level 2 (Rare-tier Shield Core) and Level 3 (Epic-tier Shield Core), Alter can choose one of two upgrades:

Level 2 upgrades:

  • Ultimate Cooldown: Reduces Void Nexus cooldown by 30 seconds.
  • Void Vision: Extends highlights and allows you to see health bars after exiting Void Passage.

Level 3 upgrades:

  • Eternal Nexus: Void Nexus never times out.
  • Tactical Cooldown: Reduces Void Passage cooldown by 10 seconds.

Solos Return to Apex Legends

While Respawn previously announced Solos Mode wouldn't return to Apex, they've had a change of heart and decided to listen to the players. Solos Mode will replace Duos Mode for the first half of Season 21, running from May 7th to June 24th.

Respawn has infused aspects of other popular modes into Solos, adding features like Battle Sense to detect nearby enemies, pre-kitted weapons and attachments, and mechanics like auto-heal and Second Chance to boost the intensity of early battles.

With these updates, Apex Legends Season 21 promises a fresh and thrilling experience for players. Whether you're diving into Alter's mysterious abilities or testing your skills in the revamped Solos Mode, there's plenty to explore in this latest season of Apex Legends.

Apex Legends Season 21 also includes updates to the Broken Moon map, new features for Apex Artifacts, weapon adjustments, and tweaks to various Legends' abilities. Here's a comprehensive breakdown of what to expect:

Apex Legends Season 21 Map Rotation

Broken Moon has received an update to improve rotations, address loot deserts, and boost the overall player experience. The map rotation for Season 21 includes the new shattered version of Broken Moon, Kings Canyon, and World's Edge for both Ranked Mode and Pubs. However, Respawn said they might change the map rotation after the first half of the season.

Apex Artifacts and Exotic Shards

Apex Artifacts, which resemble Heirloom Weapon-like melee cosmetics, got a full rework. Players now have the option to customize their katars, with six variants and five customization options each. Exotic Shards, a new in-game currency, sequentially unlock customizations. You can purchase Exotic Shards directly or find them in small amounts in the Upheaval battle pass, unlike Heirloom Shards, which unlock Heirloom Weapons and Prestige Skins.

Weapon Changes

The Wingman, a long-standing Apex Legends classic, returns to the standard loot pool, losing its Care Package buffs. Respawn reduced its damage from 50 to 45, removed the Skullpiercer Elite hop-up, and replaced it with the Boosted Loader hop-up. In the Care Package, the Devotion replaced the Wingman and received buffs for damage, magazine size, reload time, and hipfire accuracy.

Additionally, the Nemesis, Triple-Take, Peacekeeper, Prowler, and Longbow received gold weapon treatment. A new feature ensures that an unarmed player will find a weapon in the first Supply Bin they open, designed to aid in early-game encounters.

Legend Changes

Newcastle's Mobile Shield ability’s throw animation is now faster, while his Castle Wall ultimate now blocks bullets and ordinance when energized. The energized state lasts 50% longer, and the Stronghold Legend Upgrade extends it even further.

Catalyst's Piercing Spikes cooldown is reduced, and her Dark Veil ultimate is extended. The Long Cast Legend Upgrade is integrated into her default Tactical, while a new upgrade, Ferro-Door, replaces Long Cast.

Whenever you're ready to start Season 21, we have an Apex Legends Elo Booster waiting for you!

Upheaval Battle Pass

The battle pass introduces void-themed skins for various Legends, including Caustic, and features Exotic Shards as a new currency for Apex Artifacts upgrades.

These changes promise an exciting and dynamic experience for Apex Legends players in Season 21. For more detailed patch notes on minor adjustments, visit Apex Legends' official website.
