Apex Legends Mid-Season 24.1 Update: Major Changes and Legend Boosts
The Beast Mode event is set to shake things up in Apex Legends from March 25 to April 15. Alongside it, Respawn Entertainment is rolling out the highly anticipated 24.1 mid-season update, bringing significant changes to weapons, Legends, and the ranking system. This update aims to enhance gameplay balance and provide fresh challenges for players.
Weapon Adjustments: Buffs and Nerfs Incoming
The Apex Legends arsenal is getting a notable shake-up in this update. The Nemesis receives quality-of-life buffs, compensating for the removal of the Hop-Up Accelerator. Expect a longer delay before charge decay (now 8 seconds instead of 6) and improved effectiveness across all levels. The Devotion LMG benefits from reduced recoil intensity on its first shots, while the L-STAR EMG loses its reverse recoil mechanic, balancing its power in close combat.
Marksman rifles are also seeing tweaks. The 30-30 Repeater gets a damage boost for charged shots—body shot damage increases from 58 to 65, and headshots rise from 93 to 104. The G7 Scout enjoys similar improvements, with a slight fire rate buff to make up for the loss of the Accelerator Hop-Up. Additionally, the P2020 has its laser effectiveness normalized, and the Wingman will no longer support the Hop-Up Charger Booster. |

Shotguns and SMGs receive adjustments as well. The EVA-8 now features a wider spread pattern, impacting its close-range power. Meanwhile, submachine guns—including the Alternator, C.A.R., R-99, and Volt—benefit from increased magazine sizes at all levels, allowing for more sustained engagements.
Legend Tweaks and Perk Reworks
Respawn is also shaking up how Legends play. The Skirmisher class gains two new perks: Trailblazer, which boosts sprint speed toward allied Skirmishers, and Charged Knockdown, granting an extra ability charge and 50 HP regeneration after securing a knockdown.
Ash sees her ultimate’s cooldown increased, but players who master Ash can still dominate the meta. Meanwhile, Alter gets a major buff—now featuring two tactical charges, deeper portals, and enhanced level upgrades. Other Legends, including Pathfinder, Horizon, Wraith, and Revenant, are also receiving fine-tuned ability adjustments.
New Map Rotations & Limited-Time Modes
Public and ranked play will rotate across E-District, Canyon of the Kings, and Storm Point. Meanwhile, Mixtape mode brings Control, Gun Run, and TDM across various maps, keeping the action diverse.
A brand-new limited-time mode, Power Sword Royale, introduces a unique melee weapon with special abilities. Additionally, April Fools and Solo game modes return, with Solo mode featuring adjusted player counts and a new respawn token system.
Ranked Mode Gets a New Progression System
The ranking system is receiving a crucial update. A new level-based division reset replaces the old hard reset, ensuring players start each season in divisions that better reflect their skill level. This change aims to provide fairer matchmaking and a more balanced ranked climb.
Technical Overhaul and Performance Upgrades
Respawn is removing DirectX 11 support, shifting focus to DirectX 12 enhancements for improved performance. Additional settings now allow players to limit FPS in the lobby and fine-tune resolution scaling, offering better optimization options.
Bug Fixes and Quality-of-Life Improvements
Several long-standing issues are being addressed in this update. Fixes include:
- Improved interaction mechanics for assisting downed teammates
- Adjustments to audio cues for various Legends and weapons
- Resolution of bugs related to level data loading
