Apex Legends Future Icons Event: Duels, Skins, and Ranked Changes
The Apex Legends Future Icons event has arrived, offering a massive content drop designed to keep the action fresh and the grind worthwhile. Running from June 24 to July 15, 2025, the event brings an all-new game mode, exclusive cosmetics, balance changes, and exciting ways to boost your gameplay and rank up faster.
Face Off in 1v1 Duels: The New Limited-Time Mode
At the heart of the event is the Arenas: Duels mode—a high-stakes 1v1 format that strips the game back to pure gunplay. Each five-minute match features 30 players, each taking turns in randomized 1v1 fights with mirrored loadouts and spawn locations. There are no abilities during the first half of the event, meaning mechanical skill and smart movement are all that stand between you and victory.
Whether you're looking to improve your fundamentals or test your skills in a pressure-heavy environment, Duels is a powerful way to boost your performance and sharpen your instincts.
Abilities Return Midway Through the Event
On July 15, the Duels mode will evolve to allow Legend abilities, introducing a new tactical layer. This change gives players a chance to explore creative outplays and better showcase their main’s strengths. From aggressive assaults to clever traps, Duels with abilities will reward players who adapt quickly and think strategically—just the kind of gameplay that helps with boosting overall consistency and game knowledge.

Alter’s Void Nexus has been adjusted for better balance, and Mirage’s decoys received animation improvements to better mirror player behavior. A long-requested update to ranked mode is finally here. Now, your squad’s display shows the highest rank tier among all players, making matchmaking more transparent and strategic. This adjustment encourages fairer lobbies while maintaining the challenge for those queuing with higher-ranked friends.
Additionally, players who completed the Ladder Champion Challenge in Split 1 will retain their Dive Trail reward throughout Split 2—but you’ll need to complete the same challenge again to keep it after that. It’s a solid incentive for boosting your rank before the split ends.
New Map Rotations and Mixtape Modes
If you’re not in the mood for ranked, the Mixtape rotation has plenty to offer. Classic maps like Kings Canyon, World’s Edge, and Broken Moon return to both ranked and unranked play. In the Mixtape, you’ll find:
