Get Ready to Hot Drop with the Best Weapons in Apex Legends
The first few minutes of an Apex Legends match can be exciting but stressful, to say the least. As soon as you land in a hot-drop, everyone has a target on their backs, and finding the right weapon can be a huge boost to your survival chances. Some Legends are a lot more mobile, so they can almost always escape from a tricky situation in the early game, but if you want to make sure to stay alive after dropping into the Apex Games, you’ll need to know what to pick up. Let’s take a look at the best weapons you should always look for when you hot-drop in Apex Legends.
What are the best weapons to Hot Drop in Apex Legends?
Before searching for a weapon, you should always make sure that no one gets to it first. Most players will focus on weapon containers and buildings, and you don’t want to get pinned down this early in the game, especially since most players will be using basic shields and won’t have any weapon attachments yet.
P2020
While the P2020 is often left behind by rookies due to its precision requirements and inaccurate Aim Down Sights, or ADS for short, this TTK weapon has an incredible fire rate and is super-efficient when it comes to saving ammunition. With the fact that it can be used effectively in close quarters combat and will most likely not run out of ammo even after taking down an entire unequipped squad, the P2020 might be your ticket out of the hot drop phase in Apex Legends. |
Havoc
A fan favorite Assault Rifle, the Havoc can pack a powerful punch while carrying tons of ammo. While some players complain about its initial windup, Havoc compensates by being very accurate even when you have to hip-fire, which you’ll probably do a lot in the early game while trying to stay alive.
Longbow
We get it; starting with a sniper rifle is a huge risk, but if you manage to land in an isolated area and pick up the Longbow right away, you can use its fire rate (faster than the Sentinel) to take down an entire squad before they even know what’s happening. Keep in mind that the Longbow can deal 106 damage with a headshot on a target wearing a white shield, which, after the hot drop, is almost everyone. With six bullets in the magazine, the Longbow can boost your squad with three kills right at the start of the game.
Alternator
Although there are better SMGs in Apex Legends, the Alternator’s low recoil and strong accuracy at medium range make it useful in every scenario. Keep in mind that you don’t need a lot of damage to take down opponents wearing basic gear. If you’re playing with a fast Legend that can track opponents, you might just get to pick up three death boxes before your enemies even notice you’re there.
Wingman Now, if you’re known for your aim, this might just be the weapon for you. The Wingman can take down an enemy with four body shots, and it’s effective even at long range, making it one of the most versatile weapons in the early game. The only drawback is that after the recent nerfs, it uses sniper rifle ammo, which might not be easy to find early on. |
Mastiff
Let’s face it, most of the time, a couple of squads will land next to a building and storm inside, and the fact is, inside closed doors, whoever has the biggest shotgun usually wins. The Mastiff does justice to its name, having the power to down an opponent in two shots even if they’re already wearing a blue shield. If you’re playing a mobile legend, you can take down your foes and safely reload the Mastiff before round two.
Peacekeeper
Respawn made a lot of changes in Season 16, and while every shotgun received a boost, the Peacekeeper’s power went through the roof. With a mind-blowing 99 damage potential on body shots and the ability to perform a charged attack for increased range, the Peacekeeper can destroy a squad 1v3 without any attachments. What makes this the best early-game weapon in Apex Legends, however, is the fact that you can boost it with the right attachments and use it until the end of the match.
