Valorant Update 8.10 Patch Notes: Basic Training Event and Bug Fixes

Valorant Patch 8.10 is relatively small but introduces a significant new feature: the Basic Training Event, designed to better train newcomers. Here’s a detailed rundown of the patch notes for update 8.10.

The previous patch, 8.09, was very small, bringing buffs to Brimstone and resolving the disappearing crosshair profiles issue, but not doing much else.

Patch 8.10 prepares players for the significant changes in patch 8.11, which will transform the map pool after VCT Masters Shanghai.

It’s the perfect time to get a Valorant Elo Boost and stabilize your rank before the big changes hit live servers.

Valorant Patch 8.08

Valorant Patch 8.11 will see Haven's return, along with a new map debuting in Shanghai in early June. But for now, let’s dive into what update 8.10 brings to the game.

Basic Training Event

The major highlight of patch 8.10 is the introduction of the Basic Training Event. Compared to the current Welcome Contract, this new feature helps newcomers learn Valorant's basics more effectively. The Basic Training Event offers clearer missions and milestones, providing a structured learning experience.

  • New players can practice combat, complete specific challenges, and earn various rewards like player cards, titles, and Radiant Points. Additionally, players earn XP from these tasks, which contributes to progressing through the Battle Pass.
  • For new players, a new structure replaces the Welcome Contract, with clearer missions and milestones to navigate the New Player Experience.
  • The event is similar to other in-game events, displaying progress and goals at each milestone and offering rewards to enhance the Valorant experience.
  • Players who have previously completed the Welcome Contract will not see the Basic Training Event, as they have already earned all the rewards.
  • Players who have partially completed the Welcome Contract will see their progress reflected in the Basic Training Event, and they can continue earning XP to boost their Battle Pass.

Agent Bug Fixes

Cypher: Fixed an issue where shots fired immediately after exiting Cypher’s Spycam (E) bypassed the weapon’s raise animation, causing no damage. The weapon raise animation now plays for its full duration.

Clove: Fixed issues where the timer for Clove’s Pick-Me-Up (C) could be restarted, allowing more time than intended to activate the ability.

Patch 8.08 Changes Recap

While patch 8.10 focuses on new player training and bug fixes, it's important to recall significant changes from patch Valorant 8.08, particularly those affecting Cypher and Viper, who are the stars of the 8.10 changes.

Cypher Nerfs:

Trapwire (C):

  • Reactivation time was increased from 1 second to 2 seconds.
  • Slow time reduced from 2 seconds to 1.25 seconds.

Spycam (E):

  • Enemies now hear looping audio when actively watched by Cypher from the Spycam.

These changes make it easier for players to counter Cypher’s abilities, offering more time to react and escape his traps.

Viper Nerfs:

Snake Bite (C):

  • Charges reduced from 2 to 1.
  • Price increased from 200 to 300.
  • Duration boosted from 5.5 seconds to 6.5 seconds.

Toxic Screen (E) and Poison Cloud (Q):

  • Maximum uptime on each smoke source reduced to 12 seconds.
  • Minimum fuel needed to activate smoke increased from 20% to 30%.
  • Cooldown on re-activating smokes after putting them down reduced to 5 seconds.

These adjustments will change how Viper mains use her abilities, especially in post-plant scenarios where Snake Bite’s increased duration will be crucial.

The introduction of the Basic Training Event in patch 8.10 aims to make the game more accessible to newcomers, ensuring they are well-prepared for their ranked climb and future competitive play.
