Sunset: Everything you need to know about the new Valorant map that's being released in the Valorant Champions Finals in Los Angeles

The new Act & Map Rotation is reportedly arriving in just under two weeks with Sunset. Today we'll cover the leaks about the new map.

The most recent speculations and leaks regarding Sunset coming to boost the map pool have been making the rounds on Twitter lately. The city of angels, Los Angeles, and everything that may be linked to its culture are the inspiration and theme of the 2023 Valorant Champions Tournament.

When is the new Valorant map being released?

On August 26th, during the Valorant Champions Tournament Grand Finals, Sunset will be released.

According to recent leaks, the new map has a sunny theme with some desert aspects. Riot released a teaser, and you can figure out from the snapshot below that this map will be all about sand and palm trees.

Valorant agent Deadlock in the new Sunset map for Episode 7 Act 2

Since Riot likes agents and maps to be relatable, all the content in Valorant is connected to a specific city or country in the world. This time, it will most likely be Los Angeles.

The actual locations of the Valorant maps have an impact on them, acting as the inspiration for each map's hidden Easter eggs. If you check out the real locations, you'll be able to find dozens of easter-eggs in each of these maps and why they are there!

While the Omega Earth maps are less connected to the real world, you can also find easter eggs there, like Cristiano Ronaldo's jersey on the Pearl map, which is located somewhere in Lisbon, Portugal.

As soon as Episode 7 Act 2 begins, we can expect a new map rotation, which will already include Sunset but also the return of Breeze, with some minor changes to boost the quality of gameplay there.

Since the last map rotation was three acts ago, the new act will cause a major change for both professional and amateur competitive gameplay in Valorant.

Fracture and Pearl are being removed, and much to the fans disappointment, Icebox will stay off the rotation as well.

Valorant map Breeze, the Mid Pillar section reworked for Episode 7 Act 2

On Breeze's Mid Pillar, you can no longer wrap around the pillar. It establishes a direct route to the Mid Wood Doors site. The cubby has been practically removed.

Although the B Site adjustments on Breeze aren't very significant, they might still have a big impact. The steps leading to the back of the site are gone, but the pillar is still there. A leap-up box has been added, the wall has been elevated, and the destroyed wall has been fixed.

A Hall has undergone a complete renovation. The route across the site is now barred and has a Keep Out sign. The center doors are now wide open instead of being slanted, and a stack of boxes has been set up as cover.

The A Shop and A Cave got the biggest changes. The cave is partially blocked now, and there's only a single door to the shop area, which has some new cover spots with boxes.

Finally, the pyramids in the A Site are a bit bigger than before, presumably to stop Jett from gliding over them all the time.

Sunday matches for the Valorant Champions 2023 start without an audience

While we're super excited for each and every match in this tournament, Sundays are always the key days that we look forward to the most.

Sadly, this past Sunday, as a safety measure, Riot Games sent out a warning that spectators would not be admitted into the Shrine Expo Hall for the matchups. This is because Hurricane Hilary hit California on that day, bringing with it severe rain, floods, and strong winds.

Their post on Twitter (X) stated:

In anticipation of tomorrow's severe weather in Los Angeles, we will not be facilitating a live audience at the Shrine. Refunds will be available for all impacted ticket holders. #VALORANTChampions

The day progressed normally, with Loud beating EDG and Fnatic defeating DRX, but it was bittersweet to end the last matches in the Shrine Auditorium without an audience.

The tournament will now move to the Kia Forum for the final rounds.
