Valorant Mobile is wasting no time making a mark on the competitive scene. Just weeks after its official release in China, Riot Games has unveiled the first national series for the mobile title, featuring an impressive $418,000 (≈£309,000) prize pool. This move highlights Riot’s commitment to building a sustainable esports ecosystem for Valorant Mobile while giving players multiple pathways to reach the national stage.
Multiple Qualification Routes for Players
The tournament is designed to be as inclusive as possible, offering four different ways for teams to qualify for the in-person finals: national, college, streaming platforms, and cooperation events. Each pathway creates unique opportunities for both established and up-and-coming squads to prove themselves.
The streaming qualifiers are particularly notable, as they will run across some of China’s largest platforms—Bilibili, TikTok, Huya Live, Douyu, and Kuaishou—from August 25 to September 14. These events will not only generate buzz but also boost viewership and community engagement across multiple audiences. Meanwhile, the national, college, and cooperation tracks will span September through November, ensuring months of competitive action leading into the finals.
Finals at an Unexpected Venue
The winners from each of the four tracks will secure a coveted spot at the National Finals in December. Interestingly, the event will take place at the Aranya Grand Masters—an international skateboarding competition. This crossover location signals Riot’s intent to blend gaming with broader youth culture, expanding Valorant Mobile’s reach beyond just esports.
On the PC side, a national-level Valorant competition will follow the same structure and also culminate at Aranya, further boosting the visibility of both titles in China’s esports scene.
Riot’s Commitment to Valorant Mobile
Riot Games isn’t just hosting a one-off event. The company has already announced a massive three-year investment of 1.5 billion RMB (≈£150m) dedicated to growing Valorant Mobile esports. This kind of long-term commitment shows Riot is serious about boosting the mobile game’s presence in a region that already ranks among the world’s most competitive mobile gaming markets.
Valorant Mobile is also integrating an esports center directly into the game itself, making it easier than ever for players to sign up for competitions.
