A New VALORANT Bug is Deleting Player Crosshairs
Riot Games has done it again. A new patch just hit live servers, and it looks like VALORANT players everywhere have lost their crosshairs. If you've suddenly found yourself staring at a blank screen where your custom crosshair used to be, you're not alone. Crafting the perfect crosshair setup can be a labor of love and an investment to boost your performance, so it's a real bummer when it disappears into thin air as you fire up the game after an update.
The VALORANT crosshair curse is affecting thousands of players. After scouring through every pro player's crosshair setup and finally landing on one that feels just right for you, it can be extremely frustrating to lose it and have to start all over again. Most players’ first instinct is to reconfigure their settings, but that won’t work either. VALORANT seems determined to wipe out players’ crosshairs every time they hit play. Default settings are honestly the worst idea in gaming history, so you’ll need an alternative. |
So, how do you beat this annoying bug and keep your VALORANT crosshair intact? Here's the workaround:
- Head over to VALORANT's settings and navigate to the Crosshair section.
- Look for the Export icon—it's the one with an arrow pointing up—next to your Crosshair Profile. Give it a click.
- Save the code that pops up. You can paste it down in a notepad or even shoot it over to yourself in a message for safekeeping.
- The next time your crosshair pulls a Houdini and disappears, use the Import icon in the Crosshair settings panel.
- Paste in the code you saved earlier, and voila! You should be able to retrieve and use your trusty crosshair again.
While this is not a permanent fix, it'll do the trick until Riot Games can organize their spaghetti code and boost VALORANT with a patch that can squash this bug for good.
Riot Games has officially acknowledged the bug and said they understand how frustrating the issue of missing Crosshair profiles in VALORANT is for players, and they're on the case. They're gearing up to deliver a permanent fix with patch 8.09, set to put an end to the disappearing crosshair bug once and for all. However, there’s a problem: while this update will ensure that they stay put moving forward, it won't magically resurrect your deleted crosshairs; those are gone forever.
There's no official release date just yet for the patch just yet, but Riot intends to boost some game features before the end of the month, so it should be safe to assume the next VALORANT patch will hit live servers around May 14 or maybe a bit later on May 21.
In the meantime, while we're waiting on Riot to work their magic, you might want to try out some of the best crosshairs and codes that VALORANT has to offer. Who knows, you might just find a setup that's even better than your old one—it's all about turning setbacks into opportunities, right?
