Five New Teams Get the Spotlight in Valorant

The newest additions to the team capsule lineup include:

  • 2GAME Esports (Americas)
  • Apeks (EMEA)
  • XLG Esports (China)
  • Nongshim RedForce (Pacific)
  • BOOM Esports (Pacific)

These organizations now sit among a total of 48 team capsules available in Valorant, each offering players a way to represent their favorite squads through unique in-game cosmetics. While these teams made their VCT 2025 debuts during the Kickoff events in January and February, their capsules only arrived recently—solidifying their presence in the top-tier circuit.

What is the Valorant Ascension Tournament?

Ascension tournaments are Riot’s answer to bridging the gap between regional Challengers leagues and the elite International Leagues. It gives aspiring teams a shot to boost their profile and compete at the highest level of Valorant esports.

In 2024, Riot announced a major shift in the Ascension system starting in 2025. Promoted teams will now receive a one-year stay in the International League of their respective region. If they finish in the top 8, they remain in the league. A Champions qualification automatically secures another year. But if they fall short, they return to Challengers and must fight through Ascension again to reclaim their spot.

This new structure adds a competitive edge to every stage of the season, forcing teams not just to earn promotion but to fight hard to stay. It also raises the stakes for every match, making each win or loss more meaningful for fans tracking their favorite teams or boosting their Valorant rank with the pride of their capsule-equipped loadouts.

BOOM Esports: A Return to Glory

Among the newly added teams, BOOM Esports stands out with a storied Valorant legacy. The Indonesian squad previously competed at the highest level and even made an appearance at Valorant Champions 2022. However, their momentum took a hit when they were left out of the VCT Partner Program and subsequently relegated to the Challengers circuit.

After several attempts at clawing their way back into top-tier play, BOOM finally earned their redemption. They secured a return to the International League by taking over Bleed Esports’ spot for the 2025 season. For long-time fans, their capsule represents more than a cosmetic—it’s a symbol of resilience and a new shot at glory.

Fresh Faces with Big Stories

The other four organizations may be newer to Valorant’s top stage, but their paths to promotion were anything but easy.

2GAME Esports, hailing from the Americas region, shocked many by claiming the region’s 12th spot after a thrilling Ascension final against M80. Known for their grit and unpredictable playstyle, 2GAME’s rise is already making waves—and their capsule is likely to become a fan favorite for those wanting to back a true underdog.

Over in EMEA, Apeks secured their spot by defeating PCIFIC Esports, a team that had gone unbeaten in the group stage and built a staggering +51 round difference. The upset win not only earned Apeks their promotion but also instantly elevated their status in the European scene.

China’s XLG Esports and Pacific’s Nongshim RedForce also secured their places by winning their respective Ascension events. While they don’t yet have the international reputation of some of the other orgs, their capsule inclusion ensures their identity will be represented as they enter the global spotlight.
