Worlds 2023 Play-Ins – Day 1: The LoL World Championship Begins!

Welcome, Summoners, to the biggest stage in the world! The League of Legends World Championship of 2023 has begun, and it's an all-out war. The stakes are high for these legendary players as fans from around the world gather, boosting their favorite teams’ morale. Everyone wants to be the very best, and without a shadow of a doubt, every single player will give it their all. But in the end, only one team will lift the Summoner's Cup and hold the title of Worlds 2023 Champion.

Worlds 2023 Qualifier Finals

The excitement kicked off with a bang yesterday as Team BDS destroyed the Golden Guardians, setting the stage for the LEC to showcase its strength. Despite GG bringing an amazing new strategy to the field with a Neeko x Kalista bot-lane that dominated the early game, BDS still triumphed in the late game and ended up taking the final spot in the tournament.

Tomorrow, BDS faces Team Whales in the second match of day 2. However, the real story unfolded on Day 1 of Worlds 2023, delivering shocks and surprises beyond belief.

PSG Talon vs. Movistar R7

PSG Talon entered the arena and defeated Movistar R7 in spectacular fashion, winning both game one and game two of the series. While the early game was fairly balanced, PSG always managed to come out on top whenever an objective or team fight happened. The picks and bans were nothing unexpected, with Xayah and Renekton being picked right away and Poppy being banned in the first match. R7's Mireu took Taliyah to the mid-lane against PSG Maple's Neeko, and the matchup was top-notch entertainment. The game remained balanced, but PSG capitalized on every mistake without hesitation, boosting their chances at every opportunity and securing the win.

In the second match, Poppy was banned once again, but both teams decided to switch up their strategies. R7 Ceo shined as Xayah, and PSG Azhi surprised everyone with a Rumble flex pick against R7 Bong's K'Sante in the top lane. PSG Woody, as Rakan, seized the opportunity to "secure" two early kills and used his advantage to roam and spread the love amongst his teammates' lanes, leading to an early bot-lane turret and a Rift Herald for PSG. With the snowball growing, PSG kept applying pressure until the Nexus fell.

LOUD vs. GAM Esports

Loud Route MVP

The match between Loud and Gam Esports was a whole different story. As Loud secured the coveted Renekton with Kai'Sa combo, the odds were stacked against GAM Esports. Route, the star of the show, showcased why Kai'Sa is a "ban-or-pick" champion in this edition of Worlds.

LOUD broke open the base with an impressive performance from Route that included a couple of triple kills, and just before taking the Nexus, Route secured a double, a triple, and then a quadra. With a daring fountain dive and a little boost from his teammates, he got the first Pentakill of Worlds 2023! The crowd erupted in cheers, the announcers went wild, and even the opponents at GAM Esports congratulated the Brazilian ADC on his remarkable achievement.

Keep in mind that we already saw PSG defeat LOUD in the MSI 2023 Play-Ins earlier this year!

Our MVP for day one is LOUD Route as Kai’Sa.

As Loud and PSG advance in the Upper Bracket of the Worlds 2023 play-ins, the excitement continues to build.

PSG Talon vs LOUD

Day 2 promises even more thrilling matches and unexpected turns. Stay tuned to find out who will emerge victorious in this year's League of Legends World Championship!
