League of Legends: Wild Rift - The Essential Team Compositions

Welcome Summoners! Today we’re taking a deep dive into the secret strategies that will lead you to victory in League of Legends: Wild Rift. Join us as we delve into the essential team compositions that every player must master for a winning edge over any opponent!

#1 The Pick Comp

In League of Legends: Wild Rift, the "pick" team is usually made up of several Assassins or Mages who are able to deal a lot of damage quickly as a burst. Its main goal is to bait and quickly find and kill enemies that are alone. Once an enemy is killed, the team has more people on its side and can go after important neutral goals like Elemental Dragons, the Rift Herald, Baron Nashor, or even the Elder Dragon. These goals give you a huge edge and will boost your chances of winning to a very safe level.

However, this squad has an Achilles' heel. Despite having a chance of effectively ending the other team's chance to win, it also has a high risk of not paying off at all. This strategy heavily relies on securing an early advantage, as its success hinges on dealing substantial mid-game damage and preventing the enemy team from snowballing. Also, as the game goes on, most assassins and mages become less useful, which makes it hard to come back or play from behind.

#2 The Hyper Carry Comp

Most of the time, this combination is built around a single hyper-carry, either an ADC or an APC. The rest of the team is usually made up of tanks or Champions with crowd control and utility.

This strategy puts a lot of pressure on the carry, since the team's success depends a lot on how well they do individually.

If the carry dies, the team's effectiveness falls apart, and they often lose fights and games as a result. This is the big weakness of the Hyper Carry composition. The early game is also a challenge since strong carries tend to shine the most in the late game.

But when the carry does well, it's like fighting a raid boss in an MMORPG. They can't be stopped, and they will boost their team easily. With the right help from a duo partner, like a support or a jungler, the carry can easily get fed and proceed to single-handedly defeat the other team in every teamfight.

The enemy team pretty much has a timer to end the game because hyper carries get more and more dangerous as the clock ticks. Once players using this combination finish putting together their item builds, it's GG.

#3 The Split Push Comp

The split push strategy is based on a duelist or fighter who gets so strong in a side lane (usually top) that no one can beat them in a one-on-one duel. The most prominent examples of this are Fiora and Jax.

When this comp succeeds and the laner gets fed early on, the enemy team has to send at least two players to stop this one champion from effectively ending the game. Therefore, a team employing the split-push strategy gains the freedom to apply pressure in other areas, such as teamfights, neutral objectives, or towers, capitalizing on their numerical advantage.

But for a split push to work, all five players need to be precise and keep a lot of map control. If the split pusher doesn't get strong quickly, the team will have trouble when they have to fight as a group and don’t have the numbers advantage. If you try to split push when your team is weak, you are giving the opposite team an invitation to fight a 5v4 battle, which could end the game, and not in your favor. Even though it has some strengths, the split push team composition has more weaknesses than other strategies in this list.

#4 The Siege/Poke Comp

The siege comp is based on damage done from a distance and by poking.

As an organized group, the team keeps chipping away at the enemy's health from afar and disengaging whenever they try to collapse, making it almost impossible for the enemies to fight back.

This team strategy is great at quickly finishing games, especially when they are ahead early on.

There's only one problem, when facing off against tanks and Champions who can easily tower-dive, this team will fail more often than not. Later in the game, poke damage stops working against tanks, and if the enemy starts a dive to prevent being slowly drained by the enemy poke, there's no chance for the siege comp to work.

#5 The Team Fight Comp

The engage/diver makeup depends on champions who can initiate or dive, and tanks are often used to support them. Players usually play in a style called "Front to Back.". They do best when they stay close together to win fights and gain neutral objectives. The enemy can't avoid team fights, especially when Baron Nashor or the Elder Dragon become available to capture.

The main problem with this strategy is that it needs players to stick together. In a team fight, if someone isn't there, it could mess up the whole plan and expose the team. If the enemy uses a split push strategy and the team can't fight 5v4, they may have to use two players to hold the lines since only one won't be enough, which weakens their teamfight potential and makes them vulnerable to engages and pushes from the other four members of the team.

It's easy to look at team compositions the same way that we look at rock-paper-scissors. Each one is strong against one type of strategy and weak against another, and it's important to know how to counter the enemy team effectively.
