When does League of Legends Season 14 Begin?
League of Legends Season 14 starts on January 10, 2024! The first split will take off right at the start of 2024, resetting everyone’s ranks once again. Today, we’re going to take a look at everything Riot gave us this year and what we can look forward to in League of Legends Season 2024.
Looking back on LoL Season 13
The League of Legends Season 13 (2023) has been a wild ride with a new format, lots of fresh content, the return of the essence emporium, new incredible champions, loads of skins, and, most importantly, a brand-new game mode, Arena.
Riot Games has been actively boosting League of Legends across several fields after the community expressed their dissatisfaction after the Season 2023 cinematic announcement teaser. There were already dozens of reasons for League fans to be unhappy about the route the game was taking, but in 2023, League of Legends emerged like a beautiful butterfly.
When does League of Legends Season 13 end?
League’s 2023 Season is rumoured to end by January 4, however, the official date hasn’t been released by Riot Games yet.
What is new in League of Legends Season 14?
Season 14 is bringing a ton of changes to League of Legends that are sure to boost the game to a whole new level.
Mythic Items
To start out the 2024 season, Riot is removing Mythic Items, a staple of the game’s Meta that defined itemization and builds since Season 10. Riot considers that Mythics are lowering the diversity of builds, and they want to create a safe space for more creative players to explore and adapt to every scenario.
Map Changes
The Summoner’s Rift map and objectives are being adjusted. While the Elemental Drake map changes are staying in the game, Riot is considering reworking some of the dragons, which will impact the meta heavily and influence the game on several levels.
Three Ranked Splits
Season 14 will have three splits! After Riot’s experiment in Season 13, resetting the ranks worked out so well that they’re doing it twice next year. Besides giving players more reasons to keep playing ranked even after hitting any plateau in particular, it will also mean a boost to the number of ranked rewards, and everyone loves rewards.
Crit Items for AD-Carries
ADCs have been having a hard time over the last couple of seasons. Riot’s response to this is a huge buff to critical hit boosting items, which should make marksmen a lot more viable, especially in Solo Queue.
Jungle Rework
Oh boy, here we go again. The jungle is getting another rework, and it might be the most carefully planned-out rework yet. The role of Jungler is still overpowered in comparison to the rest, and Riot wants junglers to feel penalised for excessive ganking by rewarding pathing and making lane interference overall less impactful. One of the changes towards nerfing the jungle was already announced, as the lane-minion gold value is getting reduced for junglers in the new season.
Patches and Bugfixes
Along with all the other changes, Riot Games is fixing a ton of bugs and making quality-of-life improvements to boost playability and player accessibility in League of Legends.
Some of the objectives Riot has in mind are reducing snowballing, changing how gold bounties work, and balancing the different roles and champions.
Season 14, Split 1, is set to take off on January 10 with a ton of exciting new features and changes. Until then, stay tuned for more League of Legends news!
