The T1 game against the MAD Lions was a slaughter. T1 was the second seed in the LCK and was playing the #1 seed in the LEC, the MAD Lions, in a best-of-five series, and while they began off slowly, they eventually managed to play the quickest game in any major event.
T1's 2023 Mid-Season Invitational campaign didn't get off to the greatest of starts, but after an adrenaline boost after turning the first match around, the team rapidly jumped back to their feet, strengthening with each victory. While it's impressive that Faker has now played 200 matches in an international competition, the day's biggest news was T1's 3-0 sweep over the MAD Lions, with absolutely one sided matchups in games 2 and 3.
In 2019, SKT T1 and Invictus Gaming completed the quickest game in a major League of Legends international competition. In just 16 minutes and 1 second, the contest was over. This time, T1 came up short of the record but still managed to beat the MAD Lions and take first place in just 16 minutes and 56 seconds.
This is a new tournament record, however, surpassing the one established by Gen.G in game 2 of their series against G2 Esports the day before, but the dominance of the top two teams in the LCK has left spectators wondering what the next games will be like.
T1 will compete against Gen.G in the top bracket, while the MAD Lions might want to consider getting some LoL boosting for their next math, since they will take on G2 Esports in the lower bracket. Their odds are not looking good at all!
In the second match of the best-of-five series, Faker set a new benchmark that only a player of his stature could accomplish.
He made his 200th appearance for his country in an international game. Faker is the most successful player ever, having won three World Championships and one MSI trophy. That's worth a thousand times more than being in first place on the LoL MMR ladder.
In addition to his 200 games at international competitions, he has repeated second-place results at the World Championship and MSI, demonstrating his consistent skill throughout his career.
On the other hand, while MAD Lions fans were still trying to deal with the loss, Nisqy was overheard chuckling after his team lost the lopsided series to T1 at MSI 2023. Consequently, the team's supporters have taken their anger out on the player by harassing him online.
It is not uncommon for teams from the LCK and LPL to defeat those from the LEC and LCS in international competitions. Western teams have always faced an uphill struggle while competing against the greatest teams from the strongest regions, and MSI 2023 has been no exception. There's no way to get a LoL boost to first place on the MSI, sadly.
Despite having the lead for most of the opening game of the best-of-five series versus T1, the MAD Lions ultimately lost the match. The situation continued to deteriorate until MAD Lions again, this time in the second-fastest time in League of Legends international history.
Yasin 'Nisqy' Dinçer was not spotted moping about after the overwhelming defeat but instead laughed it off. Furious supporters of the squad as well as some of Spain's top co-streamers took to Twitter to abuse Nisqy, prompting him to retaliate via a now-deleted post.
It's not unusual for fans to react negatively when the team representing their area loses a major game, but tensions escalated when LVP commentator Jaime Mellado compared Nisqy's post-match manner to that of Javier 'Elyoya' Batalla and criticized it on Twitter.
Despite the defeat, many people rallied to Nisqy's side. Even though he fell to MAD in this year's LEC Finals in a humiliating reverse sweep, Ju 'Crownie' Marui of Team BDS was ready to point out Jaime's insults and support Nisqy.
Passionate and outraged fans have continued to call Nisqy out on Twitter, while veteran players and coaches have offered their perspectives on why the controversy over Nisqy's positive reaction to the game's outcome is unwarranted.
Later at this year's MSI, Nisqy will face G2 in a lower bracket match, giving him a chance to redeem himself and return to the spotlight. Do you think MAD Lions have what it takes to succeed?
