League of Legends Patch 13.15 is bringing tons of changes to the new 2v2v2v2 mode, Arena.

Today we'll be taking a look at the champion nerfs, which include Alistar and Heimerdinger, as well as the newest champion NPCs who will be boosting the game mode's PVE mechanic!

Starting with patch 13.15, Arena will receive its own patch notes while the limited event is ongoing. The first significant batch of adjustments for the League of Legends special game mode is already here, and we're going to cover it in detail.

Even if the League of Legends Arena mode is designed to be played casually and not taken too seriously, some notable meta picks have nonetheless shown up in almost every single match, forcing players to ban or pick them.

As teamfight champions by nature in a game that is essentially one huge teamfight, teamfight-focused characters like Alistar, Kennen, and Wukong have enjoyed a very warm spotlight that the competition can't step into.

In order to balance the League of Legends Arena mode, the first major patch will try to weaken some of the most boosted champions while strengthening others that are barely ever used. It also includes certain modifications to items and augments that will heavily impact the game's meta.

This is the first patch—there may be more—that seeks to even out the game mode while it's active. Additionally, Riot's development team is looking at the idea of making Arena a permanent mode if the mode receives enough traction, though this has not yet been verified. The player base has already shown their approval of this idea since Arena has already become one of the most played special game modes in League of Legends long history, with some content creators like Necrit even going as far as to call it the game mode that saved League.

What has changed in patch 13.15 for League of Legends Arena?

SoulFighter Shaco Splash Art

New Soul Fighters and new Arena stage mechanics are coming to the mode to give it some diversity. The new effects they are adding to each match will undoubtedly force you to adapt your gameplay on specific maps; after all, we're witnessing the arrival of five new champions, each with their own new mechanics. Below is a list of the new Soul Fighter champions and their respective map effects.

Evelynn: All players are camouflaged.

Gwen: Once every few seconds, Gwen will cast her W (Hallowed Mist) on the lowest HP champion.

Jhin: Casts Curtain Call, firing four shots, one at each player. Good luck dodging number four!

Shaco: Roams around the map, placing his W (Jack-in-the-Box) everywhere, spreading chaos and tilt fuel.

Viego: The first champion to be defeated will transform into Viego for a short while, allowing him to stay in the fight a bit longer.

Besides the new Soul Fighters, a lot more changes are coming!

Grievous Wounds now stack on a player when they leave the circle.
This is a major change that will boost every champion that has trouble dealing with tanks, so don't overlook it just because it's hidden among the system updates. Before, huge tanks like Mundo or champions who were attacking the healing plants from outside the circle could essentially regenerate their way through the ring's damage; that strategy is long gone now.

The way that some champions play the game will change considerably as a result of the Grievous Wounds debuff now stacking on champions that remain outside the circle for a long amount of time.

Despite the fact that a lot of well-known champions received nerfs, this patch really stands out for two significant bonuses. The fact that Blitzcrank's Q now has some more Ability Haste is certainly a big deal, but the 300% AP scaling that has been introduced to his ultimate's active will undoubtedly result in some extremely absurd one-shot footage.

Bard's passive has also received some greater scaling, making it much simpler for him to pile up his Meeplings. Bard is highly unique because of his need to prolong games and stockpile his chimes, and it takes some creativity to get him fed. Riot decided to boost both Bard and Blitz, and we can expect them to be really strong options in the new and improved Arena.

Rammus' Powerball has doubled its movement speed, and while this might not make him OP, at least it will make him a super fun choice.

There are a lot more nerfs and buffs for specific champions that you can check out in the League of Legends game client, but these are by far the most impactful ones that we can't wait to try out!

See you in the Arena!
