League of Legends Champion Mastery Tokens will now be obtainable through ranking S or above in ARAM!
Anyone who has grown bored with the Summoner's Rift's default game mode will welcome the recent adjustments to ARAM.
Each champion has its own leveling system called "Champion Mastery," which keeps track of a player's experience and proficiency with that champion over time. If you play a champion often, you'll gain champion mastery points.
Up to level 5, you can gain levels just by playing the champion in any game mode. However, in order to advance to levels 6 and 7, you must repeatedly earn an S or above in a game before you can level up.
Up to this point, ARAM game ratings didn't count toward the requirements for mastery levels 6 and 7, and you had to play a match on the Summoner's Rift and farm the tokens there, earning S ranks, to advance past level 5.
The Summoner's Rift isn't suitable for everyone though, and some people prefer the All Random All Mid (ARAM) or other fun game modes instead. These players may still want to demonstrate their mastery of a specific champion, but they may not wish to do so in a mode they find uninteresting. After all, you can always leave the unpleasant part of the game for the LoL Boosting Professionals on GGBoost!
There has been a lot of talk about players avoiding Summoner's Rift more and more in recent patches, due to the amount of toxicity found there.
Here's some good news for all you ARAM devotees out there! Beginning with update 13.5, players can start farming for tokens to increase their ARAM mastery to levels 6 and 7. This is great news for Mastery enthusiasts, especially because, with ARAM being a faster game mode with shorter matches, Mastery Level Boosting services will be a lot quicker than before!
Jordan "BarackProbama" Checkman, senior design lead on the Competitive Gameplay Team at Riot Games, was the first to break the news. Can we just pause for a second and marvel at the awesomeness that is his Summoner name?
It's good to see Riot Games working on more than just the standard game mode for Summoner's Rift. They have decided to make some of the most significant changes to the ARAM game mode ever seen during the 2023 season, including the introduction of Hexgates, the new snowy bush, debris from tumbled turrets (although that one wasn't exactly appreciated), and even the champion-specific nerfs and buffs.
Riot held a final Clash event at the end of 2022, just before League of Legends Season 13 started. This was done in honor of the changes made to ARAM. Streamers like The Bausffs joined in on the fun of this one-of-a-kind ARAM Clash, showing that the game can be played in a lighthearted manner without alienating serious players.
ARAM Clash is confirmed to be returning later in the 2023 season, which is great news! Besides the rewards you can earn for playing or watching special events related to the special Clash tournament, you can now get Mastery tokens for playing it as well. This is extremely promising!
To top off all of this, we are aware that Riot is developing a brand-new game mode that will be played in a 2v2v2v2 structure and look very different from the ones that are already in the game.
We're excited to see what's next for the "fun" game modes! After all, what good is a game if you don't have a good time playing it?
