Riot’s League of Legends Fighter 2XKO Launches Early Access

Riot Games is officially bringing its long-awaited League of Legends fighting game, 2XKO, into early access on October 7, 2025. After months of closed beta testing, the 2v2 tag fighter is finally opening its doors to all PC players, no invite codes or restrictions required.

This milestone not only marks the beginning of a new competitive scene but also sets the stage for Riot's first dedicated step into the fighting game genre, giving fans of both LoL and traditional fighters plenty to look forward to.

Early Access Launch: What Players Can Expect

The launch begins with Season 0, where Riot will introduce the game's 10th playable champion. Like the MOBA that inspired it, 2XKO is built on a steady stream of new content, and Riot has already confirmed that everything unlocked during early access, including champions, skins, and mastery rewards, will carry over into future updates.

Looking ahead to 2026, Riot plans to roll out five full seasons. Each one will bring a new champion into the roster, alongside fresh progression rewards and additional in-game content designed to keep the competitive scene thriving. This steady stream of updates is expected to boost long-term player engagement and give the game a strong foundation to grow within the fighting game community.

Confirmed Champions So Far

2XKO's roster at launch pulls heavily from iconic League of Legends champions, blending fan favorites with fighting-game mechanics that showcase their unique abilities. The confirmed lineup includes:

• Jinx
• Vi
• Yasuo

The 10th champion remains under wraps until early access, adding to the anticipation. With this mix of brawlers, assassins, and tanks, the roster already looks well-positioned to capture the spirit of LoL while carving out its own identity in the fighting genre.

Riot's Push Into Community Tournaments

To further solidify the game's competitive foundation, Riot announced First Impact, a program sponsoring 22 community-led tournaments across the Americas, Europe, and Asia through the end of 2025. While the events remain grassroots and community-driven, Riot will provide official support in the form of pot bonuses.

The highlight of this initiative is the Duo Bounty: if a team wins first place in a First Impact tournament, they will earn an additional $2,500 prize funded by Riot, on top of the existing prize pool. Winners will also receive a unique "Local Legend" title for their 2XKO account, a reward designed to highlight standout competitors as the scene begins to grow.

The first Riot-supported event is Evo France: 2 NICE KO, organized by The MIXUP Crew. The tournament takes place in Nice, France, from October 10–12, only days after early access begins. By investing directly in grassroots competition, Riot is clearly positioning 2XKO as a long-term contender in the fighting game space, a move that could boost its credibility among players looking for both casual and competitive play.
