Counter Strike 2 is available now on Steam!
The game we have all been waiting for is finally here! After more than a decade of Counter Strike: Global Offensive, Valve has officially released Counter Strike 2.
After first announcing the new title in March of this year, Valve opened a limited test server for a very select group of players. While beta testing, the lucky few who got to try out CS2 before anyone else reported that this was a lot more than a remastered version of the previous game. Valve really did boost every single feature of the game to a whole new level without losing any level of quality.
What changed between CS:GO and CS2?
The new and improved version of the biggest First-Person Shooter in the world was entirely built from scratch on Valve’s Source 2 engine. This means that the game looks a lot better, with AAA-level graphics, some of the best audio enhancements out there, a more polished user interface, and also a huge array of tools for the Community Workshop, which is a big move from Valve and shows that they continue to support and believe in the CS modding community.
Although all the maps have been redesigned, Valve wasn’t about to let their players down, and they left a surprise for the last day.
Dust 2 is in the game, and you can play it today! The best feature yet, however, is the tick-rate-independent gameplay. This state-of-the-art technological wonder allows Valve’s servers to know the exact moment any motion begins, either when you turn, shoot, or even throw a grenade, making CS2 a lot more precise than CS:GO. Of course, this means that you can’t ever blame a missed head shot on the servers! |
Speaking of grenades, I recommend going out there with a couple of smokes and spending some time experimenting by yourself. The smoke in CS2 is so realistic that it made me want to call the fire department! And guess what? When you throw two smoke grenades near each other, the smoke from both will blend, boosting each other’s effect and forming a bigger cloud.
How can I play Counter Strike 2?
If you own CS:GO, then you only need to run Steam, update the game, and voilá, welcome to CS2. All the loot you had in CS:GO will not go to waste. Every skin, from stock weapons to the most beautiful knives, has been rebuilt in CS2.
Even if you don’t own the game, you should rush to the Steam shop and claim it anyway, because Counter Strike 2 is currently free-to-play! So go download those 27GB and start playing Premier today!
Counter Strike 2 Premier Rating System
The ranked rating system in CS2, Premier, ranges from zero to 40.000. In order to climb the ranked ladder, you only need to keep playing and winning, but there’s a catch: there’s also a specific rating for each map.
While in CS:GO the ranks had a name and badge, now you can see the exact number that reflects your rating. There’s still a color system that will help divide the ranks:
- Grey: 0–4,999
- Light Blue: 5,000–9,999
- Blue: 10,000–14,999
- Purple: 15,000–19,999
- Pink: 20,000–24,999
- Red: 25,000–29,999
- Yellow/Gold: 30,000+
To start out, you will need to win 10 matches; only then will you get your CS2 rating. At GGBoost, we already have you covered with the best CS2 players, ready to boost your rank.
Your Counter Strike 2 rating will be affected by your performance, but the biggest factors are wins versus losses and win streaks. Of course, winning in higher ratings will also grant less elo per win.
Join the gaming community and celebrate Counter Strike 2. It’s time to go out there and enjoy your first clutch! Remember, pray before you spray, don’t keep your weapon loaded, always rush B, aim for the head, but, most of all, have fun!
