Valve is Issuing VAC Bans for Players with Extremely High Mouse DPI Settings
Oh no, here we go again! The world of Counter-Strike 2 has been quite a rollercoaster ride lately. Just when we thought we were safe from bans related to AMD's Anti-Lag+ feature, a new wave of bans has emerged, and this time it's all about... wait for it... moving your mouse too fast!
If you thought it was bad enough that players were getting banned for boosting the game's performance with AMD Anti-Lag+, which is completely legit, you're not prepared for this. It's like getting a ticket for speeding on your bicycle. That's pretty much what's happening to Counter-Strike 2 players this week.
Valve recently started reversing bans for people who used Anti-Lag+ in Counter-Strike 2, but the ban hammer is still in action, and this time, it's targeting anyone who sets their mouse DPI above a certain threshold.
YouTuber Water CS2 and some other players recently discovered a surefire way to get yourself a VAC ban. How, you ask? Well, all they did was boost their mouse DPI to levels that no reasonable person would ever use in-game—10,000 and beyond (which is approximately 9,200 DPI more than most people use). Then they simply went wild with their camera, swinging it around like an overly enthusiastic kid in a candy store. Some players received a ban after just one match, while others had to endure over an hour of high-speed mouse antics before VAC decided it was enough.
Valve's new VAC Live system, which can issue bans during live matches, is clearly very trigger-happy. And you know what? I can somewhat understand why it's treating these DPI-boosting players like potential cheaters. I mean, who hasn't wondered if a teammate spinning around like a beyblade before a round is about to go into full hacker mode, snapping heads and spraying bullets in every direction? Unfortunately, VAC isn't taking the time to ask questions; it's just spreading bans like they’re the plague. We've reached a point where even the robots aren’t sure about who's human and who's not! What a time to be alive, and what a time to be VAC banned from CS-2!
The bad news is that some players are treating this like a TikTok challenge, pushing the limits of their DPI to see how far they can go before the ban hammer strikes.
The good news is that you can easily avoid falling victim to this VAC issue. No one in their right mind plays Counter-Strike 2 at 10,000+ DPI unless they're goofing around. So, here's a word of advice: don't tempt fate by attempting this unless you're on a throwaway account. Instead, maybe take a moment to warn your friend who treats every warm-up like a high-speed rollercoaster ride that VAC is on the prowl.
Valve hasn't officially commented on these unusual bans yet, but considering how swiftly they resolved the Anti-Lag fiasco, a fix is likely on the way. Until then, keep gaming, but maybe rein in that mouse for a while!
