CS2 Asimov AWP

Counter-Strike 2 Players Want Their Good Old CS:GO AWP Back

Counter-Strike 2 has had its fair share of excitement and letdowns since its launch. The game brought improved graphics and new features, but there are changes that have left players scratching their heads. Even the developers have admitted that the launch was 'bumpy,' and the development will need a boost before the game reaches its peak. However, one major surprise came with the AWP Sniper Rifle, and it's causing quite a stir among CS:GO veterans.

For Counter-Strike aficionados, the AWP is a sacred weapon. It's the one-shot, one-kill option that's both revered and feared. Despite a somewhat controversial magazine size nerf towards the end of CSGO's life, the AWP remained a potent force in the game. But in Counter-Strike 2, something's amiss.

CS2 AWP remastered

Counter-Strike 2 players have stumbled upon a significant change to the AWP, and it's raising questions about whether it's intentional or just a bug. As the most iconic weapon in the Counter-Strike franchise, the AWP is a game-changer once it's in someone's hands.

One of the key differences in Counter-Strike 2 is the overall reduction in weapon spray for most firearms. This places even greater importance on landing that initial AWP shot, making it more challenging compared to CSGO. The reason behind this change? Well, it's all about accuracy.

In Counter-Strike 2, when you get hit while scoping with the AWP, it disrupts your accuracy. This is a notable difference from CSGO, where your accuracy remained unaffected. The window of reduced accuracy, though not excessively long, is enough to throw off your shot, especially for top-tier players who rely on precision. Although this aspect does boost the game’s immersion and realism, it also upsets a lot of competitive gamers who were used to a certain status quo.

Some speculate that all weapons may have some level of shake when hit, but it's far more pronounced with the AWP. Even Dev1ce, a renowned AWP player, expressed surprise when he learned about this nerf.

The community's response has been clear: they're not happy about the AWP's significant nerf in Counter-Strike 2, and they want the CS:GO version back. There have been a lot of requests from the player base asking the game developers to think about how this change affects competitive players at a high level, especially those who were prominent names in the CS:GO competitive scene and will have to adapt to such a big change.

Whether Valve addresses this reduced accuracy issue in future updates is yet to be seen.

As Counter-Strike 2 evolves, the fate of the AWP and its role in the game remain uncertain, leaving players to adapt to this unexpected change in the beloved franchise.
