Apex Legends' Promotional Trials Get Adjusted Following Player Feedback
Respawn Entertainment, the brains behind Apex Legends, are always responsive to community feedback, and after receiving player feedback, they’re rolling out tons of changes to boost Apex’s Ranked Promotional Trials, a move that is generating a mixed response within the gaming community. While most players are hailing the move as a step in the right direction, not everyone is benefiting from these changes.
Respawn’s developer team recently implemented a few experimental changes to the Promotional Trials, particularly focusing on alternative objectives. The tweak makes it less demanding for players up to the Diamond rank, reducing the number of required top-5 finishes to progress in the ranking ladder.
The primary motivation behind the introduction of Promotional Trials was to enhance the overall matchmaking experience in Apex Legends and give players a new dynamic that would value survival skills a lot more. This innovative feature added an extra layer to the ranking mechanism, insisting that players not only amass the necessary LP but also successfully complete additional challenges known as Promotional Trials.
This recent update responds to the vocal community, addressing concerns about the seemingly steep requirements of the Promotional Trials and complaining about teammates who try to hide and stay alive instead of playing Apex Legends the way it’s intended to be played. Players who have surpassed the new challengers now find themselves in a more lenient environment, needing fewer top-5 finishes to advance. However, it's crucial to emphasize that these changes only apply to players up to the Diamond rank.
For those striving for Diamond and beyond, the demanding task of securing a win in a ranked match remains unchanged. Although Respawn Entertainment's attempt to ease the burden on players has garnered some support, it has not been universally embraced. Some members of the gaming community are advocating for a more radical solution: the complete removal of Promotional Trials.
Critics argue that these trials, initially designed to combat "ratters" (players adopting an extremely passive playstyle to climb the ranks), may have inadvertently boosted the problem. The insistence on wins and multiple top-5 finishes might, according to some players, encourage overly cautious and passive gameplay, hindering team coordination and synergy.
As the community voices its opinions, there's a growing sentiment favoring a return to the Season 13 ranking system, considered by many as the apex of Ranked Apex Legends, pun intended. We just hope the evolving dynamics of the game continue to be led by the dialogue between developers and players and that Respawn shapes the future of Apex Legends' ranking system in a way that will satisfy the community.
