Apex Legends Developers Address Requests for Ranked Duos Mode
Respawn Entertainment, the creative minds behind the immensely popular battle royale game Apex Legends, recently provided an update on the possibility of introducing a game mode that would boost the variety of queues for the Apex Games: Ranked Duos mode. Unfortunately for eager players, the news isn't quite what they were hoping for.
Since its launch five years ago, Apex Legends has been a transformative force in the battle royale genre. Shifting the focus away from the conventional drop-and-fight approach, Respawn's innovative take on the genre has allowed players to select characters with distinct abilities, adding an extra layer of strategy to the gameplay.
One of the early deviations from the standard battle royale format was the requirement to play in trios. The player community persistently called for the creation of a solo queue in addition to the permanent duos mode that was eventually added. Despite this, players still have the option to queue up solo or as a duo in trios, at the disadvantage of not having a premade teammate.
For those seeking the ultimate competitive challenge, Ranked Leagues is the go-to mode in Apex Legends. However, while the competitive scene has thrived in trios, some players have been vocal about their desire for a dedicated Ranked Duos playlist.
Respawn has kept Apex Legends Ranked Leagues exclusive to Trios, and the highly anticipated Ranked Duos mode remains unavailable. Despite fervent requests from the player base, hopes for a permanent Ranked Duos mode were shut down when Respawn Entertainment responded to the Apex Legends community.
In a community engagement thread, a Respawn developer, RSPN_Laker, addressed the persistent calls for a dedicated Ranked Duos mode. RSPN_Laker stated:
However, this response did not sit well with some players, as evidenced by the comment's rapid downvoting. |
While Respawn Entertainment may not have immediate plans for a dedicated Ranked Duos mode in Apex Legends, it's essential to note that the situation could evolve in the future, especially if the player community continues to ask for this specific boost to the game’s different queues.
The dynamic nature of live-service games often involves adapting to player feedback and evolving trends in the gaming landscape. Respawn's acknowledgment of player requests indicates a level of responsiveness to community input. The developers have not completely ruled out the possibility of boosting Apex Legends’ Ranked queues with Duos in the future, leaving a glimmer of hope for players who have been eagerly awaiting this feature.
As the player community awaits further developments, it remains to be seen whether Respawn Entertainment will reconsider their stance on the introduction of a permanent Ranked Duos mode. Apex Legends will most likely continue to be at the forefront of innovative gameplay, and the feedback and demands of the player base will always play an important role in shaping the game's future. Until then, players will have to patiently wait and see what’s next!
