The 2023 Game Awards brought us a lot more than prizes, with amazing performances from some of our favorite video game voice actors and even a few announcements from big-time developers! The biggest announcement yet, however, was unexpected, to say the least. If you thought Apex Legends was already firing on all cylinders, get ready to have your mind blown. Respawn Entertainment is joining forces with the biggest JRPG in history. That’s right, our favorite battle royale is crossing over with none other than Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth! Square Enix's smash-hit reboot is diving headfirst into the adrenaline-packed world of Apex Legends, and we are here for it.
Now, we've seen Apex Legends dip its toes into crossover waters before when Post Malone was featured in game, with nods to Portal, Half-Life, and even a sprinkle of anime magic during the Gaiden Event. But this latest bombshell about Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth takes the cake, the icing, and maybe even the whole bakery. Respawn Entertainment sure knows how to boost our adrenaline levels!
The Game Awards dropped the bomb that Apex Legends and Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth are joining forces on December 8. The reveal came with an announcement trailer that hit us right in the feels. Three new skins are dropping into our laps like loot from the heavens, featuring our beloved Legends transformed into characters from Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth.
Crypto is rocking a Cloud Strife skin, Horizon is getting an Aerith skin, and Wraith is getting the fan-favorite Vincent Valentine look. If that doesn't make you want to dive back into the Apex Games, we don't know what will.
Mark your calendars, Legends, because the Apex Legends x Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth exclusive event kicks off on January 9, 2024. Yeah, we've got a countdown going, too!
