Apex Legends: Season 20 Best Weapon Tier List

Apex Legends Season 20 is in full swing. Respawn Entertainment has introduced a ton of changes, including new mechanics for health, a new map, and a lot of adjustments aimed at boosting Apex Legends’ arsenal. Respawn directed one standout adjustment at the fan-favorite R99 SMG, a longtime favorite in the Apex Legends arsenal. TSM star Phillip ‘ImperialHal’ Dosen, a two-time ALGS MVP and renowned in-game leader, has stepped forward to guide players through the arsenal changes, particularly in the aftermath of the R99's big nerf.

Apex R99

The R99, a staple since the early days of Apex, has been a landmark in the 'R400' loadout, often paired with the R301 assault rifle. However, Season 20 brought about a significant increase in the vertical and horizontal recoil of the R99 when aiming down sights, making it more challenging and less reliable for players accustomed to its previous behavior. This adjustment has led many to seek alternatives that can offer a comparable level of effectiveness.

ImperialHal, known for his strategic insights, has identified the best weapons to fill the void left by the nerfed R99 in Apex Legends Season 20. Responding to a fan's comment about an R99 replacement, Hal explained:

"The best guns, IMO, right now: Hemlok, Nemesis, Flatline."

Apex Legends Hemlok

These assault rifles emerge as strong contenders in the evolving weapon meta. For those favoring SMGs, ImperialHal recommends the Prowler or Volt, emphasizing their superiority over the now-challenged R99. He explicitly advises avoiding the R99 if you want to boost your chances of victory, characterizing it as "absolutely terrible."

Expanding on his weapon recommendations, ImperialHal notes that the CAR SMG remains viable, though the Volt and Prowler outshine it in the current meta. Additionally, he highlights the 30-30 and Havoc as reliable choices. According to Hal, the Havoc, when paired with the Volt or Prowler, stands out as a particularly potent combination in the current state of Season 20.

Despite the R99's significant nerf, ImperialHal acknowledges that some players will keep using it consistently due to familiarity and past preferences. However, he asserts that the Hemlok, Nemesis, Flatline, Prowler, and Volt are more reliable and effective alternatives in the meta of Apex Legends Season 20.

While the fate of the R99 remains uncertain, ImperialHal's insights provide a valuable roadmap for players seeking to adapt their loadouts and playstyles to the latest changes. The dynamic nature of Apex Legends ensures that weapon preferences and metas will continue to change, and players must stay up-to-date in order to boost their in-game results.

What are the best weapons in Apex Legends Season 20?

S-Tier includes the best weapons in the current meta: Kraber Sniper Rifle, Bocek Bow, Wingman, Eva-8, Nemesis, Hemlok, Flatline, R-301 Carbine, and the Prowler.

The A-Tier weapons are still usable if you know what you’re doing: CAR SMG, Peacekeeper, L-Star, Volt, Sentinel, Mastiff, 30-30 Repeater, and the G7 Scout.

The B-Tier lists the weapons you can use in niche scenarios, but keep in mind that all of them depend on attachments boosting their stats to be good: Havoc, R-99, Alternator, Charge Rifle, Longbow DMR.

The C-Tier guns are the ones you should only use when you can’t find anything else. They might work for early battles, but outside very specific conditions, they will be weaker than any A or S-tier weapon without any attachments: Spitfire, Re-45, Devotion, Rampage, Triple Take, and P2020.

Now that you know what to use and what to avoid, team up with an Apex Legends booster and start climbing the ranks!
